Couldn't agree more. Just under £700 for a Yorkie - It's 'barking mad' As you say, loads of free and very grateful dogs at KAR.

Please, please don't buy pet shop dogs it only encourages people to bring in dogs under dreadful conditions. Why would anyone want to send a beautiful little Yorkshire Terrier to the TRNC from Hungary? Maybe these men are the exception to the rule and all is above board but I somehow doubt it.

Theres a pet market in Istanbul, just behind the old spice market.......lots of exotic breeds. Brought over from Russia and other places (probably in squalid conditions). A friend of mine bought 2 dogs from there and both died within a month !!!

So be careful folks !!

Took one of our dogs to Pertvev for a haircut last saturday morning and as we were slightly early for our appointment we went for a walk to kill time.

We walked pass the pet shop in question and spotted this terrier puppy in a cage outside the shop.

Me (living up to my members name!!) went over to have a look.

Usually I would ooh and aah....but have to say for once I couldn't.

This little terrier was in a cage outside on the pavement in a cage with no shade.

Although it did have food on a saucer...it also had a 1/2 eaten kebab lying on the newspaper beside the saucer.

I noticed that the terrier looked very young and having adopted various abandoned puppies myself at 4, 5 1/2 and 7 weeks old so I asked a young lad working at the shop how old the terrier was and was told 2 months.



I did mentioned this terrier to Pertev and said I was concerned that it did not look in very heathly condition and he said it makes him angry that people sell animals in pet shops.



I have to agree.

I completly agree with msg 6-Tango1,but not so with with msg4-Metin.

I too used to think,beleive that dog is dog.Wrong!

A dog's character is in their blood line.Pure breed dog's chracter is alredy known before you take/buy one.Besides,a small dog is alot easier to manage.

I have 3,a chihuahua that sleeps on my arm all night,pekinise that snores into my ear all night and whispers into your ear whilst awake god knows what, and a min-pin that sleeps between my legs all night.They cost me an arm and a leg,thanks to my wife.

However,I'd not hesitate one single bit to have 20 of them,providing I can afford.











It is a shame I didn't find out about these creatures before I had kids.
