Try to stay positive Stewart. It could be twice as bad. Only the females bite ! More chance of crushing them than catching tiny sandflies. In the meantime I am trying your method of one light and spray. It is a low level trial as we live in a bungalow !

pollymarples,

where did you get the 24 hours from. Last time I was in Cyprus, I tagged one and observed it come back for more, for 2 weeks. After my experiment I squashed it.

So it is not true what you said, you are confusing it with may flies which the adult can live 30 minutes to one day.

This is the link to the 'Mossie Sucking' machine, which I bought for Cy.£10, at the close of the International Trade Fair [Nicosia - RoC], about 8 years ago. Look at the RIDICULOUS price now!

Although sceptical, I decided to buy it after a 'Night Wasp' got into my 'T' shirt and I was stung several times - F**KING AGONY!

This 'mother' sucks up ALL flying insects - sometimes you'll see some 'monsters' whizz into its 'mouth'!

Mozzies prefer some people over others because their sweat smells better than others because of the proportions of the carbon dioxide compounds that make up body odor. They can live up to 2 weeks?

The best way to prevent getting bitten is keep all doors and windows closed or flyscreens good air circulation is the secret, put the fans or AC on.

Deet, Lemon Eucalyptus, Citronella are natural repellents and work.

Put on a good Mozzie repellant in the evenings.

Its lucky there is no Malaria, Dengue or Yellow Fever. They are a little bit worse than an itchy bite...

Hi everyone

I used to be hospitalised with the damn things.

Try one a day garlic capsule and a vitamin B tablet. Take about a week to start working. Avon Skin so Soft dry spray oil (the white bottle with blue writing). Deet (as long as it's 50%) Plug in mozzie repellants. They don't like marmite (but neither do I). All that should keep you safe but doesn't get rid of them. Funniest way to kill them I've read is to sit in a darkened room with doors & windows closed, just the door to the microwave open. And when enough have congregated around the light, shut the door and zap 'em. Revenge is so sweet.....

Cheers
