Have been trying to order off Amazon but it will not accept the order without a valid postcode, have tried using Mersin 10 but will not accept it.

Thanks.

they will only deliver books here so if you are trying to order anything else it wont accept it, mersin 10 should work otherwise

We have no problems whatsoever. You can contact off board if you wish. but my better half has just had shoes delivered. With no customs paid. She used Amazon.co.uk and has her address as MERSIN10 TURKEY.

She said there is one exception..................They won`t send electricals. We even had phone batteries bought via e.bay.

Our last delivery came via Royal mail registered. But when registering with Amazon UK make sure you put Turkey as your country then it won`t ask for a postcode, plus put MERSIN 10 in the address as this signifies TRNC.

Anything not subject to customs is fine any method but anything subject to customs is fine if sent by ordinary mail including EMS. Anything sent by DHL, TNT, UPS, Fed Ex. etc. subject to customs may cost you dearly because the package can become sticky at Istanbul Customs. I believe DHL has special instructions to avoid this problem but I can't remember the details. You can ask them.

Whats the average postage for deliveries to TRNC the kettle for instance or half dozen DVD's and do you register with the UK Amazon or Amazon.com?

I have not had a lot of luck with any post to date but always use Mersin 10 Turkey.

I have ordered a few things from amazon such as books and jewellery, and also from Ebay. Just check whether the seller will post to a Turkey address, usually most amazon or Ebay shops will do so. Parcel post seems to arrive quicker than letter post here, I have received an item in 5 days but up to 2 weeks is normal.

Happy shopping.

Hi Summertime

We had the same problem, contacted Amazon and they told us to enter 00000 in the postcode box and should be ok.

P.S.

It is important with Amazon that for orders to come here the Credit Card billing address is the same (Mersin 10 etc) as the delivery address.

I have a UK bank account with HSBC, and the address of both the account and the associted Master Card is here in Famagusta.

I know of others who have had difficulty with Amazon (or Amazon's sub-suppliers) where the credit card billing address is different from the TRNC delivery address.

First year here I had books from Amazon, but the postage was horrific!! Then all of 5tl customs at the PO - laughable! Parcel had to be unwrapped and everything shown to them - so I left them the wrapping to have fun with and took the books in a carrier bag I had! Never again - now get them delievered to someone in UK - whoever is coming over next and doesnt mind the odd paperback crammed in a corner!

Geoff and Annie,

Why on earth would you buy a Russell Hobbs kettle in UK and have it shipped out here, what's it costing you in total, £70+??

Russell Hobbs kettles are available here at a fraction of that price - if you're over Girne way check out Lambousa on Saturdays, Soyz Bar in Çatalköy on Wednesdays and Açmenya Restaurant ın Alsancak on Thursdays for electrical home appliances. You've got Kenwood, Russell Hobbs, Morphy Richards, Hoover, Miele, Dualit, Prestige, Breville etc. to choose from.

Wasn't message 9 asking for the cost of postage and Geoff, are you saying cost of postage from UK to TRNC was only £5.88?

Nevertheless, they'd still be cheaper at the place I mentioned - avg 50tl there

I wouldn't order it if I was you, because you will never see it again. It will disappear in TRNC BEFORE IT GETS TO YOU!!! BEWARE!!!

The electrical stall we have at the Acmenya Market are all new, and all the top quality brands. The couple running the stall have a business here and are always getting electrical goods shipped over.

You should check them out.

Lol....I don't actually want a kettle I have a perfectly good one purchassed here at a reasonable price in a great little electrical / come everything shop down by the new harbour.

I only used the kettle as a for instance to try and gage postage costs. I do look here first but sometimes do not find what I want or it is just to expensive. So on occasions Amazon could be worth a look.

Market at Soyz bar sounds good to though I will walk down next week for a look.
