Do I need an MOT and emissions test before I go to customs?

I am due to pay the duty etc to import my car by the end of the month. The car is almost 6 years old. Do I need to have it MOT'd and have the emissions test prior to going to customs or will they refer me to their reps?

As I remember from last year it took two days (morning summer hours )

customs for papers - then to other customs office-back to customs office - pay duty -cross to combus(merc dealer) and emissions test -mot at police test station above customs -then to tax office(back of old KHTY office) for reg of car in TRNC and log book go to desk on left and ask for help(takes 2 hours)then notify insurance co of new number and have plate made" simples"

msg1-First you need to go 'ticaret dairesi',import licence office to get your import licence.I'd suggest you to go there couple of days before to get the list of required+copies of all.

Saying this,because it could be frasturating not to be able to do all in same day.Then you'd need to find yourself a commisioner at the customs building,here is a number for 1 of them,0533 8758989,his name is Denktas and speaks enough english to get by.However,there are plenty more there.
