A few years ago we bought a resale house and decided to refurbish our bathroom as it had the horrible glitzy gold decor around the edges of the toilet and washbasin/pedestal. We had already got quite a pile of stuff to take to Amanda's auctions and jokingly my husband asked if they would take an old loo and washbasin, the answer was ...... yes!

We put them in the auctions and ended up with £60 for both and we were going to throw them away.

A thought, would there be any orphanages or homes assisting those in need, that could use them, maybe to replace worn or chipped ones? I'm not there, and don't know any 'phone numbers, but maybe someone else does...........

I am sure there are plenty of poor people out there who would love such a gift. Unfortunatley it could be that they don't speak English nor read this forum. so, I wonder if anyone has a needy neighbour who would love such a gift, or I would have thought they would be good for laundry rooms etc. I would grab them, but I don't need them. There is a family in my village who might well make use of them, but as I am a naughty girl and not yet learned turkish it is difficult to communicate, but I will try.

As my dear old Mum used to say 'there is a 'buyer' for everything somewhere' as wellas 'never look a gift horse in the mouth'. so, I will see if someone wants this offer. Much better than throwing them away.

Marion;

I too have a neighbour who could do with one,let alone two,but I'm in Lapta.Had it been nearer(Esentepe) I'd be willing to pick them up for them.However,if you are,for your neighbour,here is my no 0533 8739181,if you'd like me to talk to them.

Having modernised one of our bathrooms, I also have the same item going spare and would love to give it to someone who could really benefit. Two years ago I gave two pedestals and basins to the Lapta Old People Home, for which they were very grateful, particularly as a Brit did the necessary plumming. The Home has now moved and doesn't need them now. I know from past experience that if I leave it on the side of the road both basin and pedestal will "disappear" within 30mins though!!

I often leave things in clear polybags (shoes) etc at the side of the bins in Karsiyaka, In clear bags so that people can see that they are nice clean things - and by leaving them visible on the floor at the side of the bin people know that they are too good to throw away.

Normally I give stuff to KAR charity shop but I often dispose of things in this way too. I absolutely hate to throw things away when I know that other people may need them.

Perhaps we could all get together once a year and just give stuff away to wherever it is needed. A Forum Community Goodwill Effort?
