I presume you have Turkish Cypriot parents. I think you should go to the Ministry of the Interior, "kimlik Dairesi" and ask them what documentation you need. Presumably you mut have a birth certificate plus proof about your parent. BTW, you can also get a Birth Certificate here.

I realy want one what other info can you give me as my turkish isnt that good and i dont know cyprus that well so I wont know where to go. I will be staying in magosa for 4 weeks will this be enough time to get one?

Surely if you are an EU citizen

it is not a problem for Cyprus?

Charmed,

If there is a will, there is a way. When you get to Cyprus, get one of your relatives with you and go to the Kimlik Office. I am sure it can be sorted out. If it is not sorted out easy way and you are determined, you can sue them. Unfortunately this has to be done at the High Administrative Court and normally even if you win your case they will not award you any costs. In other words, the courts are protecting the Administration against their own faults, so they have no incentive to learn.

No one has mentioned that he will have to do military service unless he is medically unfit, which has to be verified by Army and State doctors, or he has already served in the military elsewhere!

unfortunatly (dont think i spelt that right but hey) the good and decent hard working turks travel over to cyprus for work and get paid next to nothing and on top of that they have to pay sigorta and for their work permits. I dont know much about turkish laws and regulations (infact I know nothing) but it seems sad that in this day and age so many people suffer when they shouldnt and i feel soooo sad about this as my husband is such a good man. If by me havin a kimlik can ease his fincial pressure just a little until he can come over then thats what I have to do. I just need to get the list that my brother in law gave me, together and away we gooooooooo!!!
