if you have no kimlic card (ie no TC blood) then legit work near impossible....

No, not if you are Turkish Cypriot, but if your not, it's easier to get Deported for trying...(or being caught)

Wazza, you can live in the north but work in the south. Plenty of work in the south for plumbers. Are you an EU citizen?

What ever you do, if you are going to work in the south, don't go upsetting my fascist cousins in the south of the border by staying in a non-TC property. You will find life is smoother that way.

There is a plumber on the forum that may help you get a job, if he has any vacancies. Where is Tracer when you need him?

NegativeNick, if it is TC blood you guys are after, I got plenty and very reasonable prices. I do believe about the same price as gold per ounce. Supply and demand and all that.

100,000 dollars is the ammount needed to start the company and then it will be frozen in a government account gathering interest for them not you..dangerous !!!!

Wazza, Contact that Gates bloke that posts on here from Stacy's Builders, he probably needs a good plumber and is noted on his legal expertise, you just need a degree in swahili to understand him.

Mate don't listen to all the boring messages above everyone is so negative. Once you have got your residency you can work here no problem. If you are english and a good plumber then you will find work especially call outs as there are a lot of problems with the way the workmanship have installed the plumbing in the first place.

Chocoloco,

you must be joking !!!! Once you have your residency you can work here no problem (quote).

Its states quite clearly that you cannot work with a residency. Check your little blue or pink book !!!

racoonchic......as Ralph96 says you are incorrect.

The money in your personal account is blocked for 18 months, earns interest for you and during this time you are able to draw on the interest only.

As Metin says Residency means just that and if you want to work then you have a work permit instead of Residency. It is one or the other.

You are right Metin, also I can't see any company paying out for a foreigners work permit when there are so many with kimlik cards available for work.

i can see there are lots of different opinions out there on many subjects, seems working in the south and living in the north may be the safest and most rewarding option dont like the sound of earning apprentice wages in the north , is there any problem crossing the boarder daily? and do employers in the south have a problem employing people living in the north?

Racoonchic

your advice is absolute rubbish in message 16 no wonder this board is so full of misinformation, 100K US Dollars is indeed frozen but it is only frozen till you get your certificate of incorporation and the money never leaves your bank account and it earns you interest.

Begs the question are you legal mmmmmm

wazza, be wary of negatives on here really upset me at first best to ignore them others have advised

we move September in same scenario hubby not plumber but got skills and tiling he is actually sales manager for bathroom sales I think we are coming to same conclusion as you, would be great to meet up if poss in september and swop notes.

if he has to be house husband he will but reckon he will be better with work from south.

we also see that Turkish classes are on in Girne i am teaching myself a bit then we may have classes here or there. I believe its very important to learn the local language really helps.

Anyway lots of luck your wife may be same job as me but that is private i put any old thing on here.

As you rightly surmised racoonchic does not have a work permit. he is working illegally.
