We are coming over to NC in the last week in Oct staying at Oscar Resort. Does anyone know what its like? I gather its quite close to Kyrenia/Girne - can anyone give me a better description of its location - East or west of town, distance from the castle ....

Thanks

4 minutes drive from the kyrenia centre (from where the castle is 1 min walk away)

if it is sunny, i would walk

it's on the east side, opposite Lemar supermarket..

coming from lefkosa-kyrenia roundabout, turn right towards bellapais.

two minutes drive, you are at bellapais traffic lights.

go straight for 200 metres for a large roundabout.

turn right (take the 3rd exit) and in 200 metres, you make a left turn to Oscar Resort Hotel. On your right will be Lemar Supermarket..

there is a large Oscar Casino sign i believe or Oscar Hotel sign, so you cant miss it.

Hi Izzet,

Thanks for the v. useful info. When you say 1 min from the castle, do you mean by car? Does anyone know about the quality of the accomodation/facilities?

I think it's about 5 minutes drive from castle - don't know what kind of car Izzet drives! Probably a good 15-20 minute walk. Have never stayed there so can't help you with standard of accommodation.

We have stayed next door at the Vuni Palace, which is part of the same group, and have used the Oscars facilities and they have great swimming pools with slides which my children loved.

Not too sure of the accomodation though.

First of all it's a great hotel with good facilities. We have been once. We go over to NC twice a year. When we go we pay a nominal rate and use the facilities at Oscar. Be prepared but dont be put off when you first arrive. It's like driving through a shanty town. The surronding locals have not finished off the building work on their own appartments and its been like that for years.
