Never been good at working out how much material one needs.

I have 6 chairs. Seats measure 45 x 45

Material Ive seen is 1 1/2 metres wide.

So how many metres would I need to cover the 6?

In effect if you buy 1 meter of the fabric you have seen (100cm x 1.50cm) you can get 6 squares measuring 45cm x 45cm out if it. This is assuming that you don't need much in the way of turnover at the edges.

If your seats have cushions, you will need to allow double the amount of fabric (to get both top and bottom out) and if you are making box cushions, don't forget to allow slightly more to account for the depth of the cushion itself.

Any fabric shop will be happy to help you calculate required amounts if you take the basic measurements of what you want to cover with you.
