Last night 11 of us went for a meal to Erols. We have always been staunchly loyal to the place and when Erol sold it to a member of his family we were very concerned but glad for him to retire, he was very tired. We were further reassured when everything appeared to stay the same and had many good meals since but...... last night...... what a catastrophe, we were almost an hour just getting our starter and the place was quiet, we spent the whole night waiting for something or other, even the cutlery did not come, we went and found our own. 2 staff spoke no English so orders given and nothing came! Lots of people got up and walked out shouting that they had waited 1.5 hours and enough was enough. Thank goodness Erol came in later and we told him what an awful carry on it had been and he told us that he was taking the business back on Monday and he was sorry about it all. Obviously something went wrong with the sale/transfer/financials and so he must carry on.

Yes we had a bad experience there as well just after Erol left. No need to go into details but we have not returned since. But if Erol is taking over again will be back there like a shot.

We went many times after Erol retired and it was always super, thats why we had confidence in taking 11 last night, it was truly embarrassing as it was a thankyou dinner for a tc neighbour and friend. Anyway, I will be back too. Love the place

Have not been back to Erols now for 18 months due to the attitude of staff and owners. When I last mentioned this on CYP44, I was xxxxed by other board members for my views, but as I have broad shoulders I shrugged it off. Glad to hear of developments, and I may consider returning in a year or two. Michael

Message 1 .. 2nd paragraph .. and the place was quiet, 3rd paragraph .. Lots of people got up and walked out Contradicting statements .. A party of 11 is pretty big for any establishment to cope with & serve at the same time .. IMHO ..

We have been several times since Erol retired and had no problems whatsoever. I feel sorry for Erol if he is back working as he wants to sit back and enjoy retirement.

Re message 5. What an unpleasant person you must be, I remember well how unfair the content of your posts were, that said you have a right to an opinion and you certainly claimed your right to make it known. What I find disappointing having exercised your choice not to frequent Erols you find it necessary based on hear say and gossip to "slag off" another management team who just happen to be trading under the old Erol's name. We fly in for a break on Monday and will certainly be eating at Erols, what is even more pleasing is the thought of you not being there. Doug

Enough said I think, anyway, Erol & co will be back soon so all is resolved. I am so sorry though for him as he was so ready for retirement. Well, as they say you cannot choose your family. I wish them every good wish for the future and hope their health holds out through the killer summer.

Its good to see the quality of poster we still have on the board. I feel sure that dougskud is a wonderful person and finds time to xxxx only me but as I have said before, my shoulders grow broader by the day. I truly hope he has a pleasant meal at Erols and he tells us how good it was after. I cant wait for the feedback Michael

Seven of us went to Erols last night. Sahin, who is the waiter, manned the grill because Huseyin wasn't there and I have to say the food was superb. The service was good too. I understand that Erol and Caroline will be back on Monday.
