Similar thing happened to me with the butcher next to Kate O'Reillys. Asked for oxtail, strange look, put on scales, 10TL please. Went a few weeks later, same thing only know its 15TL 'cos he knows I like oxtail. Haven't been back.

they begger belief, if you want to buy something from a Cypriot its worth its weight in gold.

You want to sell him something its worth its weight in wood.

They take one look at us and charge what they like.

And then wonder why we would rather shop in the south.................

girnegeeza - have you any idea how smug you sound, obviously yet to be taken big time - it'll happen. They have a right to grumble if they have been diddled. You have a right not to agree with them - you could try doing it politely.

Folks, it appears that someone was overcharged by someone. It is difficult to see how one can then enter into a frenzy of tarring everyone else with the same brush. All that was necessary was to state what happened - if it was intended to help others make a judgement on whether to shop at the same place.

There is no argument that the ex pats are ignificant economic actors in and around the northern coast. It isn't and shouldn't be surprising that the local small businesses try to eek a business out of this opportunity. They need to learn the basics of customer loyalty in some cases so the best education is for you not to go back if you feel you are not receiving value.

I buy all my meat from this butcher and have done since it opened, with no complaints. His double lamb chops are wonderful, his beef mince is very lean and his fillet to die for. Both guys are always very polite and have never once tried to overcharge me.

Misunderstood, I was not aware that I was being smug, nor was I commenting on people being swindled big time or out of thier life savings but being overcharged for some liver. Is it appropriate for people to tar all TCs with the same brush and make comments that TCs cannot be trusted as far as they can propel thier spit just because they were overcharged.

If these people feel that they are being asked to pay over the odds then simply walk away and buy elsewhere, rather than make nasty and tasteless remarks about the entire population.

Perhaps you should look again at the comments made and decide who was polite or not.!

From Lapta on the main road in Alsancak it is on the left across from the Golden Lady, in the next row of shops after Guidos.

Good morning Terry, mess 42,

I think you'll find Chris is talking about the butchers just along from Turkbank, just opposite the golden lady in Alsancak.
