Seems to be an awful lot of 50 somethings.People who purchase ready for retirement. Perhaps this is because its difficult to get full time employment and the wages are quite low? This is based purely on the people we have met during our stays rather than any statistical information so I might be wrong.

We are a bit younger (36 and 39) we hope to retire (ha ha) we can try, only really need to do part time work to keep us hope to relax more than life here in the uk its too busy and stressfull.I think there are a few younger but not very sure does not matter anyway as long as we all enjoy the beautifull country and the people.

Just interested really - I think that on some levels it does matter a little. If everyone is the same age as my mum I might feel the need to behave all of the time!

Yes we too are silver surfers hoping to retire to TRNC next year, we have visited several times over the years and will be 60 next year, don't think there is much potential for youngsters to earn a living, unless your turkish or prepared to become a mercinary. Ha Ha.

Husband 53, me 47 & 3/4.

If they are many of us hovering around the 50ish bracket, what do we all plan to do when we get there? Enjoy the freedom and the sunshine to name a couple, but do I plan to sit by my pool every day? no I do not.

I have a whole host of things I would like to do, but never appear to have the time to do as the job, and everyday life gets in the way.

Working will not be at the top of my list for several months, and if I ever feel the urge to rush back into working mode it will only be very part time(if poss) and it would be nice to do something totaly different from my current career.

Whats everybody else thoughts, plans, aspirations?

Hi everyone, likewise hubby and l are moving to NC at the end of next month, l am 54 and he is 55, l personally am not thinking of work, l enjoy more leisurely activities, lazing round the pool, walking (am hoping to do some voluntary work at the Kyrenia Animal Rescue Centre) I enjoy gardening so hope to be taking on some work round our block and next doors. However hubby is not one for sitting around and is hoping to do a few days a week or at least half days. He"s a window fitter by trade, but is certainly not wanting to go in that direction! even though there is plenty of places that need windows! We both feel that the time is right for us, kids all grown up and more or less settled. Both in good health (touch wood) . However despite all of that we are as yet not selling our house in England, it is being rented out for at least the next 9 months, we shall be livinv in our apartment in Kyrenia and hopefully if all goes according to plan,we would like tohave a bungalow built. Hubby Mick is also a very keen golfer and was very impressed with the new golf course, l"m always threatening to take it up, so who knows , our first priority though is to learn turkish, so if anyone can recommend a very good teacher preferably with the patience of a saint! Would much appreciate it. KIND REGARDS TO ALL

Right attitude Tonip and good luck to you !

We are 42 and 41 - brought the villa to enjoy for several holidays per year and will (eventually !) spend more time in Cyprus. Will keep UK property as well - at least until children have finished school......Of all the places we have visited TRNC is a nice place to look forward to.

Tracy,

You will find that there are a lot of mid 30's + moving here now. My kids have just started their 3rd year at school, the first year at school there were 60 children, 2nd year 90 children, this year 170 children.

I would say most of the parents are of the same age group as us.

We have lots of friends in this age group, both ex pats & local in the Esentepe area.

Quote Lee and Clare: "i'm 37 my wife's 36 we have our apartment for holiday's at the moment but hope to move when the kids fly the nest." Don't hold your breath, if anything like my kids, you have to virtually kick them out. My eldest, even down to the youngest, had regular/live with partners, now think that 40 is a good time to think of settling down..... :( I love them to bits but......
