they train at high altitude in Kenya and it has great effect when running in the uk at sea level etc.

used to do it when i lived in Kenya, really works!



Altitude training is the practice by some endurance athletes of training for several weeks at high altitude, preferably over 2,500 m (8,000 ft) above sea level, though more commonly at intermediate altitudes due to the shortage of suitable high-altitude locations. At intermediate altitudes, the air still contains approximately 20.9% oxygen, but the barometric pressure and thus the partial pressure of oxygen is reduced.

how amazing to see the policeman, who was shot in the face and now blind by that monster Raoul Moat, running and completing the London Marathon today....that is what I call guts....well done Sir!!

msg 11, Yes he sure has got guts, and thought i would put this up although of no relevance to NC. Saw Eddie Kidd today in Woolwich still doing the marathon ....so far 3 miles in 10 days, am sure most will be familiar with his story. I asked his helper if it might not be a bit much for him and he said that Eddie is really up for it and then his [Eddies] face lit up. A very gutsy man as well and raising money for children with lukemia to boot.
