| they train at high altitude in Kenya and it has great effect when running in the uk at sea level etc. used to do it when i lived in Kenya, really works! Altitude training is the practice by some endurance athletes of training for several weeks at high altitude, preferably over 2,500 m (8,000 ft) above sea level, though more commonly at intermediate altitudes due to the shortage of suitable high-altitude locations. At intermediate altitudes, the air still contains approximately 20.9% oxygen, but the barometric pressure and thus the partial pressure of oxygen is reduced. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altitude_training |

| msg 11, Yes he sure has got guts, and thought i would put this up although of no relevance to NC. Saw Eddie Kidd today in Woolwich still doing the marathon ....so far 3 miles in 10 days, am sure most will be familiar with his story. I asked his helper if it might not be a bit much for him and he said that Eddie is really up for it and then his [Eddies] face lit up. A very gutsy man as well and raising money for children with lukemia to boot. |
