We have just booked flights through Monarch to Larnaca really cheaply for 1st week in Feb and we are loooking at possibly staying at The Ship in Lapta. Can anyone recommend or is there somewhere more suitable for that time of year?

We will need collecting from Larnaca and then we will also need a car hire for a week and their website suggests they can deal with these requests.

We will of course be visiting SWB but also just exploring more of NC than we have seen so far.

Probably not he best time of year but we need to use up holiday allowances from work whilst also trying to fit round 3 teenagers so there is no fear of them wanting to come with us

It will be good to see C41 at SWB nearing completion and then do loads of exploring.

We are old hands at staying at the Ship. It is a very well run family hotel with very friendly staff. If you e-mail them from the Ship web site they will organise your transport to and from the airport at the standard rate. They will not rip you off because they aim for repeat bookings. You can also book your full holiday , flights etc directly with them. We have done this for the last 4 visits and never encountered a problem. The dinning room is also a great place to eat at night, quiet but great food. I used to hire my car from them but I go to sevener now, he has 7 seaters that we need.

Best wishes,

Gaz

Hi Gaz

Word of warning. If you see an old drunken goat herder with a bald head

staggering the Ship Inn around clutching a bottle of Efes who the

waiters refer to as " Wyn".

Avoid at all costs!

Just shout, "Donkey loose! Donkey loose!"

And then hopefully he will run off outside, fall over and go to sleep.

Sorted!

I was in N.C last Jan. and weather was lovely, though cold at night.

2000 spent all winter there (working) and weather was pretty good

We sat outside for breakfast 1st Jan. 2000 at the end of Karpaz

Hi Lem,

Too late!

I am back here in the sunny North East of little old England to top up my tan, in the autumn sunshine. Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding and sticky toffee pudding today. Not an Efes in sight.

I have left Jock1 and wackyjim to handle the donkey franchise in my absense.......(whats left of it)

I thought with all this financial meltdown going on , it was better to be near to the seat of power. The home of debt after all these years of New Labour. Come on Gordon, show us your stuff!!!.................You are right Lem.................wheres the Efes............ Lots of it!!

The Ship Inn isn't in Lapta. The last time I drove past it, it was where it always has been, on the outskirts of Girne.

Or are we talking about somewhere else?

If your property is in SWB, you could stay somewhere a lot closer, if you intend to visit site much.

Totally agree, we are having a Villa built not far from the SWB site, we are in land as you drive over the ravine just before you get to SWB look up to the right and you will see our development.

We stayed at TBV near the Golf course, was great location for us to visit Girne and Tatislu. Got to agree that The Ship a little to far the other side of Girne. I can send you info and pics on the lovely apartment we stayed at.

You could try staying self catering by renting a villa between the golf club and SWB. There must be hundreds of them quite cheap at this time of year. That way you'd get a good idea where to shop and what to buy.

Msg 13,

But that might involve common sense and a lack of expat predictability.

Maybe it's associated with the Llangadog Trow and you receive the 'black spot' on departure!
