Hi, Can you give a little more info about how these work please. Can they still be overridden. If so what is to stop someone overrideing what you have set. Are they hard wired etc... Many thanks

they work on a half hour/one hour and 2 hour program.. after these times they can be reset.. but they stop after each period has finished so it reduces the risk of being left running allday when the people are out .. and yes they are hard wired..

You can buy the timers from an electrical wholesaler called Newey and Eyre, they are UK nationwide and if you get no discount they are about £27.00 each. They will do 1/2,1 &and 2 hour runs and are hard wired. I know i bought 5 myself (fully qualified electrian) and fitted then to every air-con and my immersion heater, also ideal for any external lighting. So if they have to be brought over from the UK £45.00 to supply and fit is very reasonable

I have two reservations about these timers:

1. Are they rated at a resistive load or an inductive load? As a/c units draw a high start-up, inductive current, is there not a risk that these timers are overloaded? Immersion heaters, for which these timers are well suited, are a resistive load.

2. A timer which switches off after 2 hours means that whilst you are sleeping the a/c switches off 3 possibly 4 times a night, waking the sleeper up in a sweat-lather to turn it back on again.

yes everything that racoonchic says is correct ...and ill supply and fit them for £45.00 also ....[its not something im doing as a job ] more like a robin hood trying to help the brits cut down on thier leccy bills incurrred by mindless holiday makers heehee , last russian renters i had cost me £135.00 for two weeks and that was WITH THE TIMERS FITTED !!!! cant fit them into bedrooms [A/C.s]as they obviously go off in middle of the night [max 2 hours ]so renters will get aggitated .as they begin to gasp .[remember mr racoonchic ?, when i posted these timers months ago?] didnt you rubbish them ?] so i imagine you nipped over to uk and bought a load ???? i fitted them to many immersions and air/con units on the pines, and they have been running ever since .. take no notice of the bloke who gets them in the south for 10 euros ....like a memeber wrote, he can smell 'em when in use ..as these for sure will be from PR of China where most of their cr...p comes from .. email if interested

These time switches are available in the DIY shops in the South [beside Carryfore]. 3 kw max, three settings, for 36 euros and a higher rated one for about 48 euros. Good idea and quality and easy to fit yourself.

well im not sure who is having a go at who here ???? wiives bidding for greek husbands ?? people who have to watch their backs ?...and who is racoonchic? why use a female name when you i assume are a bloke .???? ok reviewing these mesages . if you can get 'em in the south more power to you ? 36 euros is what £32.00 ?? thats not all that cheap..??. and i cannot beleive they would be comparable to the ones i had [have purchased in uk ] they were made also in uk i think , most stuff made in uk as you know surely has to be of better quality than anything for sale in the south , there was only one real negative remark when i posted these timers on this forum [must be 9 moths ago ] i cannot be bothered to review the messages, if indeed they are still here ..i have a life outside of trnc and cyp44 .but wasnt it you 'racoonchic ' that said they were too expensive ? and no good ?? if it wasnt you i will appologise .but it seems rather odd that you are now advertising.the same item

I wonder if Elko might like to comment on the technical suitability of these timers for the purpose proposed, i.e inductive loads versus resistive loads.

well, if it makes you happy, Yorg, that's ok then. Though I doubt if anyone will be swayed by the poison you spout, given your previous vitriol re. all things British. Enjoy your day, it's our day tomorrow.

Yorgozlu bey, don't lower yourself again to replying to most people in this thread. They were worthless and not wanted in the UK anymore and they are now despised by locals (and others) in TRNC. You should pity them. They are the sad 'export articles' of the morally bankrupt UK. Don't even try to communicate with people who can hardly write their own names without errors.

P.S. I'm glad and proud to live in KKTC (TRNC, Noord-Cyprus).
