I don't know what it's called but we were fancying the big Chinese restaurant with the chandelier outside located as you start to drop down in to Kyrenia (from the Nicosia/Kyrenia dual carriageway), on the left hand side.

Does anyone know what it's called, if it's open at the moment and a phone number please

And can anyone recommend it? - would appreciate it.

Pippie, It is called the Laughing Buddha. I thought it was the best Chinese I have had here, though my hub said it was just okay!! Would be interested in what you think of it.

Is it still open? I thought it had become a club.

Thanks Flutterby, just rang the Laughing Buddha. Yes, it is still open as a restaurant.

If the prices are not exhorbitant, we'll probably go tonight, will report back!

Have you tried Sushi Co in Lefkosa? I love their food and it's probably closer for you to drive to.

We went to the Laughing Buddha a few years back and found it very expensive both for food and beer.

The China Garden did go downhill but recently it is much improved with a new chef.

If I remember correctly, it was 27TL for a 2 course meal.

Dragon prob the best - but gold rush prices to heavy for mere mortals like me.....

I would agree with n.nick the Dragons is the best though expensive; they have a takeaway next to Lemar in Karakum ( nr Best sellers bookstore). It is delicious chinese & service is very good.

I think the Laughing Buddha is quite nice but the turning in off that road always puts me off! The Dragon now does a set menu at 50tl a person (I think) which is slightly more than a couple of the other places but the food is lovely and the portion sizes are always good, which is sometimes not the case at other restaurants. I hear there might be a take-away in Lapta/Alsancak soon though, so fingers crossed!!

Went to Laughing Buddah in March. Thought the food was not very good and was overpriced..... Went to Dragon in April and food was brilliant, not overly expensive for the quality, but drinks were pricey!¬!!

Personally, we think the Dragon at the Rocks Hotel is the best by far though a little price as nn wrote.

We didn't do so well with their takeaway, maybe it was what we chose.

The only other one that we like is the one opposite the Ship Inn.

For me there is only one and that is the Dragon. Tried all the others and the service and quality is second to none at the dragon. Jamel will go that extra mile to give you what you want, he will even suggest if you are unsure. Its like all good restaurants you get what you pay for. x

We went to China Garden a couple of weeks ago and were extremely impressed with the food and service. Great value for money for the set meal, and plenty of delicious food.

All 3 places are good for a nice Chinese meal: Dragon Restaurant, Chinese opposite the Ship Inn hotel and Laughing Buddha all in Girne.

Sushi Co in Lefkosa is good as well!

Laughing Buddha and Dragon (Rocks) are both very nice, prices are about the same since Laughing Buddha put their prices up last year. The nightclub lease the area downstairs from the Chinese but is nothing to do with them. Although we drove past this morning and it seems the downstairs area is a bit of a building site!

We went to The Laughing Buddha a few years ago - and it was without doubt - the worst Chinese meal we have ever had.

The Chinese House used to be good, but the last time we went there the chef had changed and the food was bland.

The last time we had a Chinese over there was close to Lemars, sorry cant remember the name but it was awesome...

Laughing Buddha - cok para (very expensive)

Dragon at the Rocks - expensive but excellent value for money in the amount of food that you get so not expensive really at all. If you have the duck, they come with unlimited amounts of pancakes, shredded cucumber, spring onion and hoisin sauce

China Garden, Ozankoy - food very nice and reasonable but always come away hungry and raid the cupboard.

Went to the China Garden with friends and enjoyed our night out. We mainly had beef dishes and were delighted with all. At 25 tl per person for a two course meal including rice and noodles it is excellent value. Give it a try and you too will have a good night out.
