Interested to see Thomas 5 is bringing back 2 stray dogs. I have recently got two stray dogs into kennels and hope to bring them back. I would be VERY interested to know about the quarantine arrangements. I was told originally that they would gain PP in N Cyprus, being in kennels for 6 months, then be flown to France spend 24/48 hours there for their jabs and then allowed into UK. Now I find this is not so and I believe that they could stay in N C for 3 months then do 6 months in France or UK (possibly more expensive) and gain new PP and then be allowed into UK. They would be flown to France with Turkish Air.

If you can Thomas 5 I would be very grateful for your feedback on how it all went for you. Thanks jdd1395

mess 1 - trnc isn't in the eu, so is outside the pet passport system....

if you bring the dogs into the eu,they will need to go into 6m quarantine...

if someone is going to try and cheat the system - remember if you get caught you could go to prison and the dogs could be destroyed..........

We have taken our dog to Germany and returned to TRNC 6 times. To take a dog to Germany it must be chipped- have had a rabbies jab with a certificate of the results of a blood test as proof the animal has aquired the immunities . . To take an animal to the UK from another EU country the blood test certificate must have been issued at least 6 months prior to import to UK . . . A totally legal method to go around the system would be take the fully prepared animal to a EU country obtain a Pet Passport issued in that country then return with your pet to TRNC. After 6 months travel VIA the country that issued the pet pass to the UK all requirement have been fullfiled. I understand someone is arrange this in the South however think it is illegal to take an animal over the border?`

PS I know from experience when you return to TRNC your pet has no quarantine providing you have the blood certificate. It takes about two months to prepare an animal to go for a 3 day German holiday.

The rules for entry into the Uk are, that the animal has not been outside a qualifying country in the last 6 months prior to entry. The TRNC & Turkey are not part of the Pets scheme making them non qualifying countries.

You will be subject to quarentine on entry to the UK.

Hi, There is an easy way fly them into Larnaca, then drive from Larnaca to TRNC by car they do not search the car on the turkish end, I got a vet to give me sleeping tablets for my 2 pets and we just drove from larnaca via the border the turks did not even bother to get out and search the car.

Clairvoy, you can bring them south to north legally anyway, why smuggle?

If you have a pet passport along with the rabies serology report you only have to apply to the TRNC Vet Department and they will allow you entry.

If you smuggle and they catch you, then your off to quarentine.

I hardly belive DEFRA ask the animal if they have been outside an approved country with in the past six months if the documents are from an approved country. Breaders ship animals daily into the UK with pet passports and serology report. The key is if issued in another EU country these documents must be at list six months of ages. It is only Denmark and the UK which require 6 month quarentine. Certainly if there was any chance of having to return to the UK I would make certain all my documents were in order. The rabies injection must be updated annually to keep the serology report active. Nothing saying one can not get the serology test done in the south rather than ship the blood to Scotland as we did however have since had a second serology report from Germany because the TRNC said the original it was no longer valid after one year. When we return next year we will again get a new report just to make certain the goal post has not moved again.

DEFRA may or may not ask. You are still breaking the rules. The rules are clear on their website.

The UK also has a system called DACTARI where by vets report any unusual disease to DEFRA. So just hope your dog doesn't have any thing wrong with it when you cheat the system. They report on illness not found generally in the UK and monitor where the animal has been or came from.

Bazagirl. Question pleased. The passports you had did you obtain them in the uk before you moved here? Or did you get them here for animals you adopted.
