If you do manage to find him a job, for goodness sake make ABSOLUTELY sure that he has a valid work permit, otherwise you'll ALL be in deep trouble with Immigration.

At age 16, what work can he do that an uneducated Anatolian peasant can't? Is he prepared to accept the lowliest of pay - or, as happens so frequently with foreigners working legally, or illegally, no pay at all? You will also have to check, and persistently keep checking, that his employer is paying your son's social security payments - this is vital, in case of accident, injury, or illness.

I'm not trying to be a 'kill-joy' - but it's only fair that you should be made aware of the situation in TRNC - this is NOT a European Union country!

Remember that if he is caught working illegally, it'll be YOU who will be faced with paying the substantial fine, and it'll sure be a hefty one if you're English!

A friend of mine recently had a gang of Turks building a wall - one had no work permit - result: 600TL fine!

Maybe he could do gardening, or car washing, or dog walking et cetera.........all of us use someone now and then for odd jobs via word of mouth - one feels sure that would be OK for just a few months......

Don't think you need a work permit until you are 18 yrs old here.

You now need a work permit whatever age you are.

Fine is TL 1300 if caught without one, +likely deportation.

At 16 - cheaper tp pay him more pocket money!

I think re message 8, you can't even get a work permt until you are 18, as a friend of mine who had a 16 year old daughter, was told that when she tried to get a summer job.
