Denis is a lovely 3 year old boy, lively and fun to be with.

Due to an unfortuante set of circumstance we have to leave North Cyprus unexpetedly and return to the UK and are not able to afford to take Denis with us, though we love him dearly and always will. He is like a part of our family and could make a lovely addition to yours, god willing.

We have to leave in 10 days time , so the matter is urgent. If we can not find a good home for him in this time we will have no other option than to have him put to sleep, for surely this is more humane and better for him than leaving him here on his own to fend for himself, only to suffer from starvation and road accidents.

Please help if you can.

I think I've misunderstood your post Erolz. I assumed you were making a statement about people leaving here and leaving their dog's behind, by replacing the word Dog with Child!

You obviously are genuinely looking for someone to look after your pet.

No it was a sacrastic post, you were right first time No1Doyen. The fictional post is about someone leaving their HUMAN child behind, not 'merely' an animal.

It is trying to make a point but if people can see that or not is down to them I guess.

Selfish, "I want" and "me, me, me" sums up so many people who pitched up here. That's why they drag their unwilling children over and dump their unwanted pets when they get skint and have to go back to the UK to sign on.

I'm sorry to say it but it's the cheap knock-off property that attracted the cheap people. There was a much better class of expat in the 90s and pre-03. Many of them codgers admittedly, but decent people with values nonetheless.

Rather stupid and pathetic post I am sorry to say! Just because people care abt their pets or animal welfare it doesn't actually follow that they don't care abt people.

For me it shows kindness and compassion.

Many of these animals were not bought over from the UK but were adopted by people who moved here.

Lets be honest we Turkish Cypriots, Turks, Greeks are not very good with pets as a rule. My dad used to feed all the cats in lapda when he visited, his garden was like a cat refuge. The cost of repatriating animals that were never vaccinated is thousands as they would have to spend six months in quarantine.

People adopt animals out of kindness. I am certain that if people could they would take these pets back.

Its simply it costs thousands to take an animal back to the UK especially from TRNC. I live in France and it cost several hundred pounds to do it from here. Where there are pet passports and reciprocal agreements.

People have to return for many reasons often health or a change of circumstances. You cannot just label everyone.

I dont really understand why this is such an issue for you. At least they are trying to rehome these pets rther then abandon them.

That well may be Visitor ........but like i said i am sure these people do not all go back without a penny in their pocket...yes all cases are different but from my own point of view, in a country where stray dogs are a very real problem, the very least most people can do ..is not add to it...especially the ones who brought their pets from the UK. This means that all those dogs penned up at Kar will never get a chance of a home.

it costs around £5,000 so im told, basically its a responsibility not to be taken lightly , thats why i vowed never to have a dog again, as i did take one back to the UK many years ago.I just hope that people reading this and are considering this avenue for their animals, may change their minds ?, or anyone considering bringing their pet, put aside an emergency fund for their animals to be taken back .

I would go back penniless, possession less and walk there rather than leave my dogs behind. We feed a couple of semi-feral cats and frontline them and such when they drop in but we look at them as being independent and less reliant than the dogs, I have to say I would probably not bother with them. They live outside all year and we regularly see them hunting.
