Deniz1 - are you saying that you are able to live comfortably on your UK state retirement pension alone?

No I'm sorry to seem argumentative, but if you don't drink, don't smoke, don't have to run a car, don't spend your time trying to get your photo on The Star paper at every karaoki and party going, live in a small apartment, don't have a pool to run, don't have the expense of pets, don't spend your time in restaurants then, provided you have the full and I emphasise the full state pension, then you could live here. It all depends on what sort of social life you are looking for.

Deniz1. Is your government pension just a widow's pension as you are not retirement age and add on benefits too, that will make a difference to living just on a government pension for other people.

Widows pension £530 a month thats what i live on i dont have money in the bank earning loads of interest. Ok i dont smoke never have. I have a small house paid for. So it is possible. At least i am not scared to go out alone at night or keep looking over my shoulder when i go to the cash point which i did in the UK.

Yes you can live on a pension of £140 weekly, if you live a frugal life and have no rent to pay. But you must always be watching the pennies and hoping that nothing un-towards happens, i.e. a trip to the dentist or doctors or your temporary residency (Approx. 200 TL) comes up.( As a new applicant for temp/res. you will have to pay for a medical also- approx 150 TL.). You must also be sparing with the electricity in the winter months when it is cold, as electricity is expensive here. As I said though, it is possible, I do it, but then I also have a service pension kicking in at the end of each month, which pays for all the extras.

Birdman you are right but i was counting every penny in the uk and coming up short more than i do here. My electricity bill is never more than 100ytl in the winter and i do use the warm aircon sometimes. It was the council tax that used to wipe me out in the uk. But as i said before i am much happier here.

Deniz1

I concur.

I could never afford to live in the UK to the standards I have here. I do have to be careful though if the combi -boiler plays up and I have to pay for a plumber or electrician.

I run a car also and have to pay for petrol, servicing etc. My electricity bill this month was the lowest for 2 years at 142 TL for the month and that is watching every unit I use , switching off everything not in current use. ( a PUN!!!!!) That is to run my 3 bedroom villa, swimming pool, well pump etc.etc.

I do not think bobat5 has accommodation here yet so he will have to pay for that from his pension making it almost a no no.

I don't know how much the state pension is but after rent and school fees I too survive on about £500 a month - we manage to eat out occassionally and have a car to run - it's not easy and you definitely have to keep an eye on the pennies (or kurus!) but it's definitely better than being back in the UK.

Deniz1, you say on other threads that you look after other peoples villas, do you have an income from that. It also would make a difference if you are not telling people about the amount you have to live on.

I don't quite understand when you have said before that you don't need a work permit because of your age and yet on one thread you are telling people you went over the border to get your work permit renewed..

I do think people should telling it as it is when advising people whats needed to live on in NC.

Hi Bobats5

Answer to your question if and when brits are offered citizenship any insolvency you may have incurred will not affect any application made over here or any other country since 2002.

I did get paid for looking after villas but have recently lost those as they have been sold. I had a work permit two and a half years ago. Anything else you would like to know? The last time i got any money for looking after a villa i bought my daughter a plane ticket to come here as i hadnt seen her for two years. So i now just live on my pension as i stated at the beginning.

Deniz1, it was you that volunteered the information regarding your living costs and your other occupation. I was only trying to establish the varying replies you keep giving. So we have now established that you no longer look after peoples villas because they are now sold but you are still touting for business as you asked people on another thread if they needed any help looking after their villas. We have also established that the reply regarding work permits is 2 and half years old, so that information is of little use to the person that asked the question.

May I suggest that rather you keep getting on the defensive when asked perfectly reasonable questions, that you don't reveal your personal business on the forum unless your prepared for the probing.
