Hoping to buy and plant lots of fruit trees during the last week of October. Can anybody recommend the best place east of Girne, near to Alagadi, to buy Lemon, Orange, Pomegranite, Fig etc etc.

Thanks

right near Alagadi you have Green {Valley} Garden Centre... I think that's what it's called... It alomst opposite the power station.

The best place is at the Gov. Garden Centre in Guzelyurt but it's not so handy...

I would visit Babel (Lapta/alancak border) and speak to Celen.

Finchy I have been told to go to a place called the Tarim Dairesi in Guzelyurt about 35 drive past lapta. It is a government place and apprently it sells a wide range of fruit trees and plants at a fraction of the cost of the garden centres. I will be going soon if I can get hold of a pick up truck so I can buy a load of large trees.

I will only have a Ford Fiesta, so I may have a few sticking out of the windows. I arrive on Saturday, but due to the size of the car I think I will have to make a few trips.

That's a geat idea and if possible then of course.

I am taking possession of our house on the 21st, and will be setting it up with all the furnture that should arrive on the 20th. My wife is coming out on the 25th, hence the planting the last week in October. I just dig the holes, where they are and what goes in them is her choice.

How would I get in touch?

Been to government garden centre Guzelyurt.

The only fruit trees they sell are fig and pomegranate.

Everything else is shrubs, bushes and flowers ETC

The further you drive out, the cheaper the nurseries get..Green garden was a bit pricey for my liking.

There used to be a great place East of Girne towards Alagadi.

I bought some orange and lemon trees and various other plants from the goverment garden centre in Guzelyurt, all plants, trees are far cheaper than anywhere else, I think this is the place where the garden centeres go to buy. When you get to the roundabout at Guzelyurt follow the sign for Lefke follow the road through town turn left at the side of the petrol station.

If you don't find what you are looking for in Guzelyurt try Tolga's in Karsiyaka on the main road. He has a big choice of trees and can deliver if necessary.

Also near Guzelyurt, Salih Gutan - opposite the Cyprufex factory about 1 mile before entering Guzelyurt from the Camlibel road. He has a lot of stock, speaks very good English and is very reasonable pricewise. He is very knowledgeable on all aspects opf what will grow here. What he doesn't have, he will get for you and will also deliver anywhere and plant if you like. His phone number is 0533-8482471
