On this day of your life, my friends, I believe that you should know ... ... that life has nothing to do with what you are doing, and everything to do with what you are being. Be careful not to get caught in the "doingness" of your life. That is not what you are here for. You are a sacred soul, and you came here to the earth to Be something. And not just one thing, but many things. The wonderful thing is, you get to choose what that is. And you get to do that right now. Always Right Now. So what do you choose to Be right now? Happy? Content? Safe? Peace? Forgiving? Compassionate? Love? Go ahead, choose. As many as you wish!

The trouble is John, one can choose to be happy but unfortunately sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Whatever you're on, I'd like a bucketful!!!!!!! No, seriously, being neither a pessimist nor an optomist (preferring to be a realist) you lost me at ""you came to the earth to Be something"? I am the product of the coupling of my parents..........and how you can say to a person who is dying horribly of some terminal illness, who wants to die with dignity whilst still in control of their faculties, so want to pass away on their own terms with family and loved ones around them, but their Government forbids that (would make their family pay) so they have to travel alone to Switzerland to die, or a parent whose child was swept out of their arms to drown in a tsunami or children whose parents and home were destroyed in an earthquake or ...........to "choose" to be happy, content, safe, peaceful, forgiving - is one hell of a stretch.......impossible in fact.......so your posting is nonsensical and for billions - impossible.......

no, not nonsensical, or impossible, he is right and I am thankful that he reminded us. This has nothing to do with governments, cancer, earthquakes or Switzerland. It is a simple truth which we have all lost sight of. Perhaps if we could all regain this truth there would be less misery in the world caused by man's inhumanity to man (Yes, you probably think he shared whatever you thought he was on with me) Wrong.

no sue - we are all entitled to an opinion. If one isn't suffering due to a major catastrophe, or enduring a force majeure - fine - they can say "I will be happy/content/peaceful." whatever - and by sheer willpower hope they experience that emotion - but for those whose lives are crumbling and there is nothing and no-one that can stop it - you will agree, it would be impossible to be "happy" or "content" or any other uplifting emotion - the human element wouldn't be able to accommodate it at that time........

walkerscott, will you marry me? I love your sentiments, your words, your thoughts and your positivity... I have a book on sufism and agree with so many of their values......They take the best bits of all the worlds religions practise them and it seems to work, all the sufi's I know are such wonderful, calm and caring people, my parents were sufi's and they had a sufi funeral, I have never been so touched and moved at any funeral service.......

sue? I don't think I am correct whatsoever - correct doesn't figure in this! walkerscott is saying a man who has seen his wife raped in front of him, or a child who has watched his parents drown - or those living in the shadow of a nuclear meltdown and can't move away - could not POSSIBLY then say to themselves - I am happy - content - safe..............it is a physical and mental and emotional impossibility...........but if you are saying you are super human and could be in a predicament such as that and yet, say those things to yourself - fine - good for you. This is NOT to say that I don't think a positive outlook, rather than a negative one, is preferable - obviously it is, as the mind is the strongest organ in the body - and can make the difference between life and death in some instances, when your life is in your control. I was posting that it would be impossible if the case were otherwise. Exchange of views IS a discussion!!!!!!!!!!!

The Miracle That Will Change Your Life Staying positive when surrounded by—even when submerged in—what others might call “negativity” is easier than you think. So here is The Trick. Here is The Tool. Here is The Incredible Technique... Bring an immediate end to judgment. “Judge not by appearances.” When you bring an end to judgment, you bring an end to an entire way of living. This is no small thing. This is a life-changing shift in attitude and behavior. This is a miracle. The way to move out of judgment is to move into gratitude. That is such an important corollary that it should be plastered all over your house and everywhere in your world. On your bathroom mirror. On the refrigerator door. On your car's rear-view mirror. Above your computer screen. You might even tattoo it on your left wrist—or at least engrave it on a bracelet that you wear there: THE WAY TO MOVE OUT OF JUDGMENT IS TO MOVE INTO GRATITUDE. This means remaining grateful for every outcome. Every outco

This is about saying “Thank you, God” for even those things that you are sure you did not consciously choose and that you are very clear you do not want. Somebody once said, “Happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you get.” That “somebody” was profoundly right. Gratitude is the miracle cure for every moment of dis-ease. It is the fastest way to dissolve anxiety, to heal disappointment, to replace negativity with positivity. It is the shortest route from a dead-end back to The Path. It is the connecting energy to God. Try it some time. The next time you are confronted with any undesired outcome, result, or experience, just stop. Stop right in the middle of whatever's going on. Just... ...stop. Close your eyes for the smallest moment and say inside your head, “Thank you, God.” Take one good, deep breath and say it again. “Thank you for this gift, and the treasure that it holds for me.”

Be assured that it does hold a treasure, even if you are not seeing it right now. Life will prove that to you, if you give it a chance. The ‘GPS of the Brain' When gratitude replaces judgment, peace spreads throughout your body, gentleness embraces your soul, wisdom fills your mind. Let gratitude replace judgment and your whole experience of life will take a turn for the better in five seconds. In five seconds. This is because attitude is everything. Attitude puts the course correction in life when you have stepped off The Path. Attitude is like the Map of the Mind. It is like the Global Positioning Satellite of the brain. A negative attitude will send you down the road to unhappiness. There is no avoiding it. It will absolutely happen, and it doesn't matter what the problem. A positive attitude will put you back on The Path to inner peace and happiness. Again, there is no avoiding it. It will absolutely happen, and it doesn't matter what the problem.

Yet how can one move into gratitude when the circumstances or conditions presenting themselves are utterly miserable, desolate—or even life threatening? By knowing that every moment in life is an unparalleled opportunity for you to inwardly declare, express and experience the Divinity that lies within you. This is something that is not made clear by a simple announcement that there is such a thing as the Energy of Attraction. That fact must beexplained, not merely revealed. God Bless you all, every one of you!

I have had most things thrown at me during my life apart from murder as i am still here i could write a book. Well i am still happy smiling and thank God/Allah every day for what i have. More people should do that instead of moaning and criticising every one elses opinions.

This is taken from Neal Donald Walsch’s great book, Happier than God. He is the New York best-selling author of the Conversations with God series. In which Neal quite literally has a conversation with God. If he's not barking, then I'm a dutchman (sorry Hans). Holier than thou sentiments mean nothing when cut and pasted.

NDW does not ask anyone to believe what he writes but just to take from it whatever works for them. I mentioned his book, “When Everything Changes, Change Everything” in a previous thread and recommend it. Many people seem to be afraid of the word “God”- God is life, and life is God and every one of us is an individuated divine part of God, of life. Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don’t see the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that human being. To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence. When you recognise that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious identification with the stream of thinking. When you notice that voice, you realise that who you are is not the voice, the thinker, but the one who is aware of it. Knowing yourself as awareness behind the voice is freedom.

How lovely to have a thread on here which puts forward all kinds of philosophies and positive thinking. Makes a lovely change. and to put it all into perspective, tonight I sat totally gob smacked watching the Planets on telly. What a fantastic universe, and there we are, tiny dots in the great order of thing,s and get, as has been suggested on this thread, all with a purpose. Of course that doesn't answer pain and suffering, but as has been suggested in many writings 'god has not promised skies ever blue, flower strewn pathways all your life through, BUT he has promised joy in the rain, and strength, ........ and it goes on to say in effect that one can find the courage and the way through the 'nasties' to find truth and inner contentment. (and no, I haven't been in too many awful situations, but I have learned a lot through them). And I have read most of the books referred to above. good stuff, and thanks again to Walkerscott for posting excerpts here.

msge 32 Hey Wyn, tremendous to see you back fellow. Coal *Be curious about your predicament. Don't judge, moan or blame the world. Be filled with a sense of wonder and possibility. *Be open and welcome your fate. Stay with it. *Pay attention to your senses, your feelings, your thoughts and what you see. Dont label, just be aware and this will keep you in the moment. Your thoughts are just a story, one you have made up to explain your existence. It may or may not be true. *With every molecule, feel love, feel it deep inside you and express it to everyone else. It is only love that can banish fear and bring peace to your world. Every moment ask yourself 'who am I'? Be aware that you are more than your thoughts, your feelings and your sensations. This question combined with a meditative practice will change your world. Remember that at any moment you could draw your last breath. Let death be your teacher and companion so you can truly live each moment fully and richl

Hi all! Well, i agreed with both side of comments... Law of attraction, spiritualism, realist people, analytic brains ... I can say few words on that case... Whatever you believe is right! There's no right or wrong in life. Your right seems a right to me and again it can be wrong. Being realist and believing what you CAN and GOING to do, is the easiest way of success. You can do anything! You can get whatever you want as long as you have belief in you! Period. And you know what people! Just keep away from everyday life stress and think! Think where we living... We are living in space! In a galaxy, in a huge, huge universe and we talking there is no miracles!?? If you wake up tomorrow and briefing, that's a miracle so be grateful about it!
