You should have used that well known phrase? "You can't get blood out of an ATM" or failing that write them a letter as follows...

Dear Sir,

You can't get blood out of..

Yours sincerely

A Stone.

Ralph,

I don't see what crime you have committed and I think you should resist payment and let them take you to court... the charge is bogus. Unless being drunk in charge of an ATM is an offence.

I hope the bank are not able to make an arbitrary debit to an account. Taffy came upon a vending machine at the end of a seaside pier and splashed out 50 pence for the enjoyment of a machine, "Let me be your wife for 5 minutes - insert here". After 5 minutes of excruciating agony he withdrew to find a button sewn to the end of his todger !
