As far as I am concerned all betting shops are parasites, they suck the blood of people, mostly poor ones who cannot really afford it. As a result so many families break and so many kids go without food. I say good riddance to all betting shops.

No one is forced in to betting. you cant judge betting shops in this way remember no one under 21 can enter a betting office. free will.

Abdul,

Free will is no excuse. By the same logic you may say that people should be allowed to smoke cocain. Betting, like drugs are harmful to the fabric of the society and therefore they should be banned. You go and earn a decent living elsewhere by working and doing something useful.

I agree with you, but what hurts me most is to see betting shops in villages. Casinos are different because (as far as I understand) TC's and mainland Turks are not allowed entry and even if they were they would have to travel. To have betting shops in the centre of villages is just asking for trouble.

Obviously not you as you would not have asked the question.

Who do you think that the casinos are targeted at?

Go on have a guess.

Msg 8 should alcohol also be banned?

I believe there are more alcohol related deaths than drugs

Where do you draw the line on regulation ?

Phil,

For me drugs and betting is out, alcohol under control i.e. no sale under 18 etc. As for smoking, the world is progressing in the right direction. I hope one day smoking will be banned on crowded streets as well as it is in some advanced countries like US and Japan.

Foreigners are allowed to enter casinos except students and those with residence permits. thus tourists from Turkey are allowed in.

Abdul....Your bonuses in the TRNC may be eye catching but unfortunately do not compare with the deals on offer via the internet.

Ignore all the members who have no time for betting shops, as they are there because market forces dictate.

There is nothing wrong with gambling with the money you can afford to lose, and if it was banned then it would go underground, and then there really would be trouble.

In the 2002 World Health Report, the World Health Organisation estimated that globally 1.8 million people’s deaths every year are directly attributable to alcohol consumption. Moreover, it has been proven that a country’s drinking levels directly parallel the level of harm caused, ie the more a country drinks, the more alcohol-related harm occurs.

I wonder what the figures are for gambling or drugs ?

What is your suggestion? Ban alcohol or free gambling and drugs?

Everybody should have a choice in what they do with there leasure time and money.

Gambling for me is ok as it is up to the individual to control but excess alcohol will shorten your life and smoking is even worse and sets a bad example to children

At the end of the day everyone has their rightful opinion, the end note is that no one can force someone to gamble or do anything else for that matter as we are taking adults in to account.

Therefore we again welcome anyone who İS welcome to come and enjoy th premises of GÖNYELİ WORLD STAR BETTİNG.

Thanks.

AJ,the casinos were open a long time before the crossing points opened so bang goes your answer in msg 13,also msg 10,although it is illegal for a Turkish Cypriot to enter a casino it isn't for a Turkish mainlander,if it was the casinos would go bust in no time, just who do you think the casinos try to cater to?

Brits?
