Click on tools on your Skype toolbar then options, click on sounds & you will see a mute/enable all sounds button. make sure this is enabled.

Ach! a scotsman! You would do anything to get a free call!

Silly question but have you checked your volume on your pc is not muted? (bottom right hand side next to the time, double click on the icon)

try the troubleshooter on Skype, advanced settings;

Go to Start menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume control.

In the menu select Options -> Properties. Select your preferred microphone as "Mixer device" (if your microphone is attached to a sound card, select the correct soundcard instead).

In the list "Adjust volume for" select the Recording button, also make sure that microphone is select in the box below, then click OK.

If there are more than one device listed, make sure that microphone is checked as "Selected" and microphone volume level is greater than 50%.

Go to Options, select Advanced controls.

If there is an "Advanced" button under microphone, click it and try unchecking "Microphone boost" to see if that produces better results, if not leave it checked.

hope this helps!

hi jock

the most simple way of sorting this problem out is, go ahead make the skype test call when it goes to making the call right above the call and end icons there 5 icons for settings one you will clearly see is for the mic settings try that out see how you go

regards

We had this problem and it turned out that the skype phone wasnt compatible with Vista (or something like that)! In the end, we had to ditch the actual phone and buy headphones that plug in and then changed the settings. For some reason, that then solved the problem (although there was lots of fiddling around by him indoors as well)!
