I have recently downloaded internet explorer 9 and now my laptop is considerably slower than it was prior to the new download....

Has anyone else had the same problem ? Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Thanks

Defrag your computer that should speed it up. If not get a clean install ( but it will delete everything of your computer)

Rowlo got it right. You can always set to a point before the last installation using the System tools > System Restore.

Defag will always always help too.

Do not instal windows 7, it will really kill it.

Thanks for all the advice.

I have restored the system back to IE 8 and everything is working fine again, obviously IE 9 just is'nt compatible with my laptop.

I stopped using IE a long time ago and use Modzilla Firefox instead. It is much lighter on resources and therefore faster. You can download it from

http://www.mozilla.com

You don't need to unload IE - just start Firefox instead when you want to access the internet. Compare the two and see which is better for you.

If, like me, your computer is a few years old and struggling to start and takes an eternity to shut down - try Ubuntu. It's a free operating system and very easy to use with good free software from office (Word compatible) to multimedia. Brilliant.
