I have just got back after a weeks partying at a family reunion and flew with Turkish Airlines from Ercan to Istanbul, Istanbul to Dublin. It's a great airline but the four hour wait at Istanbul is a bind. I went a week after Easter but was still charged Easter rates and so the trip cost me 469 stg. BTW I paid 8 euros at Istanbul Airport for a coffee! My advice is book early for a better deal. Bast of Irish luck to you. Tony

Hi all, Without a doubt Turkish Airlines via Istanbul is the BEST way of making this trip. If you book reasonably early the cost is about €412 per person. If you choose the day you travel carefully you can reduce the waiting time at IST down to less than 2 hours. You need to get the flight from Ercan at 0500 if you want to do the trip in one day, however a stay over in Istanbul is always worth it. As an alternative, Aer Lingus now fly Dublin to Izmir. This requires an overnight in Izmir on the way to Cyprus, and the flight prices in August will probably be huge. Good luck and enjoy your visit to my home town. DD

IMO having done this trip many times via Larnaca is the best option. Look at flight duration to see how long your stopover is. Booking ASAP is important as we booked with luftansa for august and got €345 full service airline and the price now is twice that. There is a Monarch flight leaving Lca at 12.30 am to Luton with about a 3 hour stopover then to Dublin with Ryanair. I know this is an overnight flight but very smooth stopover might not suit a baby. A suggestion for a return flight could be Ryanair Dublin / Brussels / Lca with a quick stopover arriving back in Cyprus at 6.00pm only Tuesday and thursday flights only. Lca to Dub not a good option with Ryanair as overnight needed Naas 26

I always fly from Ercan to Stansted then Stansted to Dublin booking all flights on the internet (and I pre-book my Bus Eireann coach ticket on the internet too). Ryan Air have some great deals booking that far in advance -my last booking with them cost just over £20. Stansted/Dublin/Stansted (cabin baggage only). I generally allow approx. 3 hours between my flight landing from Cyprus and my flight taking off from Stansted to Dublin just in case there are any delays at the Ercan/Istanbul end but touch wood, I have never experienced any delays and the three hours does go very quickly by the time I have a snack and a walk around the duty free. I price up Turkish Airlines through to Dublin too whenever I am due to fly but have always found them to be much more expensive than Pegasus/Ryanair. Good luck with your booking.
