| Apologies if you have heard this before on here. This news is a couple of weeks old.
Turkey is going to build a canal just south of Istanbul to bypass the clogged up Bosphorus straits. It will link the Black sea with the sea of Marmara which is a vital shipping lane.
Erdogan said "We have today embarked on the greatest project of the century" and added that it will be a bigger undertaking than the Panama canal.
Facts:
*It will be 50 km long
*150 meters wide
*It will be finished in 2023, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish republic.
*Annual traffic through the Bosphorus
-139million tonnes of oil
-4m tonnes of liquified petroleum gas
-3m tonnes of chemicals |

| As i said earlier this week get it done before they join the EU it would never pass the planning stage then also cost double |

| Turkey joining the EU.????..........? I think they have oodles of time to build their Canal..........Or at least one can "Hope"............. |
