Britannia Removals--a world wide professional and reputable company. We used them from South Africa to UK and again from UK to here. Local agents all over UK.

Dolphin let us down in a big way, last minute we found a company in Harwich who were super and turned out to be cheaper. Think they were called James Baker, put it in a search and you should find them.

We used Dolphin, they were absolutely wonderful in the UK.......................the agents they used at this end were unspeakably awful. I still feel ill 6 years later just thinking about them. Breakages, losses, emptied 40 boxes in two hours and left contents dumped in middle of Living Room floor, demanded their lunch....the list is endless. Forced us to sign to say there were NO breakages but when we went outside we found boxes in the garden we hadn't checked. As I said, absolutely wonderful UK end. We did contact Dolphin UK and explained what had happend, but because we had signed to say all was OK they said there was nothing they could do.

Tango1,

I'm deeply sorry for the level of service received in TRNC. I hope you understand that Dolphin would have done everything in our power to resolve your issue.

Can I ask, are you aware of the Destination Agents that were used for your move?

I used Dolphin. They were very expensive. They sent too few people to pack our belongings despite being asked for an extra man by the crew chief they had sent us. Too few men meant that the belongings were not loaded on the container until the driver was out of his hours. He slept outside the property. WE were charged the extra £350 odd which the drivers company charged Dolphin. They had our goods and would not put the container on the ship unless we paid. Things were also broken. I will leave it up to you to decide if this is a recommendation!

DannyDiss. If I can find the paper work after all these years I will get back to you. I also forgot to say that we left it to your experts in UK to pack the computer, which they did, and I think they did all they could to protect it. The computer was in one of the damaged boxes we hadn't signed for, not knowing they were there. As a result almost the first thing we had to do on arrival was buy a new computer. Also some boxes never arrived at all. The people out here (6 of them) did all they could to rush us, as a result we didn't realise some boxes were missing until far too late. The boss also told us that if all the boxes and containers were not opened, emptied and taken away that afternoon, we would be charged a further £200 prior to them leaving. BTW, we moved from just outside Diss!!

Tango1,

That would be greatly appreciated. I am sure that the matter would have been dealt with internally, and Unfortunately I was not employed here at Dolphin when this happened so I do not have further knowledge of this event.

Diss is a lovely town, bit sleepy for my own pleasure but all the same, I'm proud to be linked to it! =)

I think that DannyDiss has got an uphill struggle to revive the reputation of Dolphin amongst the unfortunates who have used their services UK/TRNC. Although there must be some satisfied customers, the overwhelming condemnation that Dolphin get every time they are mentioned on this forum must tell it's own tale. If you don't mind packing your own container, use Euromed (UK no: 0208-365-8888). I found them excellent when I moved here years ago and have recommended them to other people over time without any complaints. They also quote extremely competitive prices.

We too used Valentines last year and found them to be very professional - with a personal touch. Jo rang me to clarify a couple of things and to reassure me that everything was going according to plan. I found her to be very approachable and understanding that this can be quite a stressful time. Hope all goes well for you too, no matter who you choose to go with. One year on and we have absolutely no regrets.

We used Olaytrans- everything arrived safely no breakages. They sorted it all from our storage depot to our door here in Cyprus. Nothing too much trouble. Contact Hurmus on 0392 3653430 or e-mail olaytrans@olaytrans.com

Excellent value for money.

Depends on where you are sometimes but we used Burke Bros in Wolverhampton - cheaper than all of the above and perfect service. If you need the Number I could dig it out.

We used Dolphin and totally regret it. Some things were broken and some items never arrived especially a very sentimental oil painting. Would never recommend them and the after sales service was atrocious.

DannyDiss/Dolphin. Thanks for offering to help at this late stage. Quite frankly I don't think there is much point do you?

You were not with the company but if you have a moment to spare, you might like to look into archive files for people who moved from a village just outside Diss to TRNC in about mid April 2005. Dolphin stored the goods for about 6 weeks or so and then shipped it to TRNC. Left from either Felixstowe or Harwich. I can't remember who the Agents were in those days (other than we dealt with a lady at this end). Your HO also agreed with her that as we had mistakenly signed that there were no breakages and were almost at breaking point ourselves when all the boxes were emptied all over the living room floor, we could not claim on the insurance we had paid for. We were left poorer but wiser.
