Hello

I buy my weedkiller from the little gardening shop on the same side as the Girne State hospital just after the picture shop (Colony Hotel Road). I went in and asked them for pet friendly weedkiller and they gave me one called Touchdown. Spanish as I remember and I checked it out on the internet and it says nothing about it being harmful (nothing on pets) the only warning is about using it where cattle graze. I paid TL25 for it and you use 4 capfuls for every 10 gallons of water. The guy in the shop is really helpful as well. I have had other stuff from him for feeding my plants (French one in a pink packet - cost TL15), a friend of mine who does gardens recommend him and the plant food and have to say it worked.

Hope this helps.

I did the same as Shel56 - went to the 'kiosk shop', just before Girne Hospital - I bought 1 litre of 'Touchdown Premium' - cost 30TL - hopefully, this will prove to be a 'long term' weedkiller, similar to 'Roundup' that is familiar to many of us.

If you go to 'Homebase', you might be better off buying 'Lyphase 36 SL', which I've used [successfully] for several years - here's the link:

Or, read this PDF file:

If you only have a small area to weedkill and, maybe, only use a small handsprayer, I suggest you use this weedkiller at a rate of 25ml to 1 litre of water - increase to 30ml if you have convolvulus, as this weed is very persistent.

This weedkiller seems to be 'pet safe' - or, so the company claims!
