Dunya Goz are excellent for all optical matters. It really depends on what you want done. Most types of treatment are age related and so there could be limits on the types of treatment available if you are over 50. I would also recommend Antalya Dunya Goz having had treatment at Istanbul and Antalya. I found Antalya much more convenient.

Hi Eyebob, myself and a few friends had this done some ten years ago in Istanbul at the Dunya Goz Hastanesi and we still do not need glasses!. They were thorough with their examinations and 3 out of 4 of us could have it done. We have never regretted it. They are situated all over Istanbul so ensure if you are going ahead to book at the nearest clinic to your hotel. You will have some discomfort, slight stinging for a couple of hours but thats it. You can see clearly within minutes. Take sunglasses with you as your eyes will be light sensitive for a day or so. Wings is correct your age will determine the treatment required. Good luck

The cost is around US$400 each eye for corrective surgery. May be cheaper now as Im going back a couple of years when my husband had it done. He was 0.5 and I was -3.5 when I had mine done. Give them a call they speak very good english. You can have the test done here to see if you can actually have it done before you fly to Turkey. Most opticians can do the test. Good luck.

Interesting thread, people. Can you tell me whether it can be carried out on people who are over 50 (or 60 or 70...)? Or is it the condition of the eyes that determines treatment only?

Sorry not sure of age limit. However it is worth noting that they cannot correct eyes for reading i.e. my husband has his done and they told him he would still need glasses for reading but for everyday use he can now be without glasses. Hope this helps.

Rottolover, from what I have been told by the surgeons it has something to do with the thickness of the layer covering the lense of the eye and whether or not there is enough to adjust its shape with laser. This layer reduces with age hence the age limitations the surgeons say, but it is well worth it just to be tested to find out.

Msg 9: I had my eyes corrected by laser surgery approx 3 years ago in the south (before the euro crept in and made it ridiculously expensive), at the time I was on the border of needing reading glasses as well as the glasses I wore daily however when I had my laser treatment, it was done so that one eye now sees long distance and one eye sees shorter distance. It was strange at first at took 4 or 5 days to get used to it but it now means I don't have to wear glasses at all which is the best of both worlds.

Wings msg 10,... thats correct..they measure the thickness of your cornea to determine whether you are suitable. Have had 2 consultations in uk recently, one who are doing a "special offer" of £2,400 for both eyes, the other quoted £4,000 however when i didnt get back to them they phoned me and said they would do it for £2,000. Remember you may need aftercare.
