As far as I know the UK is a member of the six month club... not sure about Cyprus?

Similar thing happened with my youngest son last year travelling on vacation from UK to Barbados and only three months left on his passport. Quick check showed Barbados and UK as members of the six month club so he travelled no problem. UK gov. should have a list of participating countries on line somewhere.

Here is a start.. though US... can't recall web address for uk list.

Hope this helps... regards Joseph

More info:

United Kingdom, Turkey and Cyprus all listed as members.

Would advise downloading a copy of listed members, printing and keeping with you should questions arise.

My son did this... but as I say... no questions were asked either side of the atlantic

Why doesn't she just get a new one?... you can renew a passport in as little as 4 hours but a weekly service is more reasonably priced. What ever is left in her current passport will be added to the new one.

Better to be safe than sorry

Looks like the six month club is for travel to USA. I have always been told by the travel agent when booking a holiday to Turkey I must have six months on my passport.

Slightly off thread but...

I suppose it is just another one of those annoying little quirks some bright spark somewhere dreampt up.

You pay for a ten year passport but it is only valid for nine and a half years.

My paid for tv licence lasts twelve months not 10... my airline ticket takes me the whole 2000 miles + from Manchester to Cyprus; it does not drop me off with 300 miles to go... my cinema ticket allows me to watch the whole film; not get thrown out with ten mninutes to go... and so on and so on ?

No doubt others can think of many such examples as obvious... or even funnier

I could be wrong of course, but isn't it a case of the passport must have 6 months left on it in order to return back to the UK?

joseph. The passport is valid for 10 yrs, it has to have 6 months remaining to travel not to replace it, you replace it at 10 yrs, if you replace it early you get the remaining months added. Tango think you may be right.
