Need to renew my photo on my UK Driving licence. I desperately need FORM D798 brought over. Can any kind person bring me it from a large Post office. This form is not available on line, I dont know why.

I have family coming out on 16th and asked them to bring some of the forms. I got mine from the South side from a miltiary friend as the military post offices stock them.

Not heard from you Furryfriends but this is what my brother in law has said.



"The Post Office does not have form D798 anymore. Despite what the DVLA website says, D1 also does applications for renewing photos.



I will try and snatch a dozen and bring over. D1 cannot be downloaded you will need an original, since it is specially printed and has a sticky photo window."

The correct form that you want for your photo only is sent to the address on your license

we had this problem and with the fantastic help from forum members it was brought out,completed,returned and the new licence brought out within TWO weeks

otherwise you will have to use D1 and apply for a new licence

How far in advance do they send you the form saying renew your photo. It takes 2 weeks for post to get from Cyprus to UK so think time will run out by the time the form is posted to me from UK and then posted back again.



I suppose I will use D1 and just apply for a new licence then, there is no extra payment for that. The 30 pounds is for updating your photo.

By coincidence, my husband today applied for a new licence, as his was due to expire next week. He had to complete form D798, which was sent to him in March stating his licence was due to expire on 23 May. He went to one of the post offices that participate in the driving licence renewal scheme. They scan the form, you stand in front of the machine which then takes your photograph and then you sign on an electronic signature 'tablet'. They told him his licence should be back with him within 3-4 working days.



This costs £20.00 plus £4.50 Post Office fee.
