A few years ago, we imported 20 tonnes (minimum order quantity) of Zeolite pool filter medium.

This natural product is much, much more efficient than sand in a pool filter, capturing particles down to 2-3 microns in size compared to 15 microns with pool sand.

It took us nearly 5 years to shift the 20 tonnes we imported and we are reluctant to repeat the exercise.

However, we keep being asked for it and we are reconsidering importing another 20 tonnes.

At a cost of 11 pounds Sterling for a 25kg bag (about the same cost as pool sand), would there be any interest in this product by pool owners reading this post?

As an additional piece of information, pool filter media should be replaced about every 3-4 years. Is yours due? Would you use Zeolite over sand?

Thanks NN,

At the same price as sand, it's a bit of a no-brainer. But then, this is the TRNC.

Hi Vaughan,

Yes I would be interested at any time within the next 12 months. I also want to get the seal on my multiport valve replaced as it is getting difficult to stop it leaking water from the system, do you undertake that as well?

Hi pc4854,

I'll put you down for some Zeolite if I can get enough interest. You might let me know how much you need - there should be a label on the side of the filter with technical info, dimensions, etc., including weight of "sand".

If you contact me on vaughan@sunnycyprus.net I will send a technician to take a look at your MPV and quote you to repair it.

Would reccomend it as well, because it holds more particles than sand you dont need to backwash as often thus saving precious water.

If you go to

http://www.zelbrite.com/index.html

and download the slide show, you will see all the benefits of Zeolite.

It takes a few minutes to download and some pages are a bit technical, but worth a look at.

islandgirl,

We did find a very few filters that just didn't suit Zeolite. We never got to the bottom of it but they were only one in a hundred, so to speak. It was possibly the size of the holes in the spider at the bottom of the filter. Most people were delighted with it.

This time, if it doesn't work, we will take the Zeolite out and put new sand in, at no extra cost.

astonhilbilly,

It could be some time, given the response we are getting here, so far. Remember, I have to import 20 tonnes and you may only need 150kg.

Wireless,

Depends on a number of things but not usually before 3 years or later than 5 or 6 years.

TRNC Vaughan. My sand is doing the job well at the moment but I would not hesitate to use Zeolite when the time comes to replace it. I can confirm your faith in it's merit as it is a very effective medium for filtering fish ponds which is a very challenging test. Do you give a free Superman cape with each purchase or am I confusing things with Kryptonite and the shortcomings of old age athleticism ?
