I just had a client who bought quite a lot of sparkling wine, and we opened a couple of bottles for tasting before she committed herself.

Tempting as it is for me to guzzle them both myself, I am offering any visitor to the shop who asks a free glass of either the Van Loveren Papillon Brut extra dry OR the Simonsig Methode Cap Classique Kaapse Vonkel.

Offer open until the bottles are empty!

"do you do Kanonkop Pino 2008"

Sorry Rocky, I don't think there is any Kanonkop on the island here, and their Pinotage (while highly rated, it gets 4 stars out of maximum 5 in the industry bible) I would expect to be quite expensive.

However if you really WANT expensive pinotage I can certainly oblige. (I have pinotage at 4 different price levels from the insanely cheap to the outrageously expensive!)

A red wine tasting day? Well that might be a good idea, I will think about that.

Love SA wines, particularly fond of Boschendal Lanoy a sauvignon/Merlot, great with a Braai.

I will definately be giving your "Bottle Store" a visit soon.

You've posted your web site with two dots not one.

Thank you Hoylemiller, will correct it if I can work out how.

Boschendal is another winery that has not made it over here yet. Perhaps one day I'll go and grab some.

Meanwhile, I've had NOBODY come in to taste my sparkling wine so far. I know the weather's miserable, but really. Come on..... DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO DRINK IT ALL MYSELF!

Billy hi,

I was lucky enough to visit the Boschendal vineyard on a trip to SA, Choose Lanoy as the main wine for my wedding. Luckily they actually sell it in Sainsbury! It truly is my all time favourite!

Rocky, £16 is around 40TL, and wines at that price do not sell very quickly here. The nearest I can offer you is a Simonsig Redhill Pinotage 2007 at TL 41.95. Frankly, it's good now but in 5 years time when the tannins have softened a bit more I think it will be stunning.

I know it's on the winelist at the Midsummer House in Catalkoy. Perhaps other places too, I just don't know.

Rocky, I have Cabernets at four price points from Simonsvlei and Simonsig, and four different Cabernet blends, including the fabulous Simonsig "Tiara" 2004 at 34.95. If that sounds expensive you just try buying a decent chateau-bottled 7-year old claret for £14 and see how far you get.

Look, everybody, it's pointless asking me if I have any "insert the name of your own favourite South African winery here". There are hundreds and hundreds of them and the answer is probably "no", and minimum order sizes combined with the need to pay cash up front make it impossible for that situation to alter. What I DO offer is a carefully selected range of wines at multiple price points from three (soon to be four) different wineries, and they are mostly listed on my website at http://www.capewines.net It's not quite up-to-date with the new bottles I am now stocking, but I shall work on that this week and hope to get it finished by next weekend.
