Let me introduce myself.

I am responsible for finding , locating and prosecuting the misuse of the BFBS Television service.

It has come to our attention that DOPI TV are now offering access to BFBS Television via a card sharing network.

Please do not waste you money on obtaining this service as it will be very short lived, as the BFBS signal is being changed in the coming months.

We are constantly watching, and have the ability to locate the viewing card(s) being used.

If anyone would like any further information, that can contact me directly at piracy@bfbs.com all emails answered and any information about dopi tv or other card sharing groups will be gratefully accepted.

Access to any pay tv provider (SKY / NOVA / OSN / DIGITURK ) via a card share is illegal, and can be prosecuted under various international and local laws.

Hi,

I think your input will put the cat amongst the pigeons!!

On a slightly different tack.... how about a card for access to BFBS programmes for all ex-servicemen out here? Now that would be a positive way to reward all the years of dedication to our country; 23 in my case. Might be a suggestion that you could take back to the management.

I am not denying your rights to prosecute anyone who use your services illegally. Although I am an engineer I have a keen interest in legal matters and I do know that most of the time litigation means "cat and mouse" game. For those living in TRNC, what would be your choice i.e. under what law would you sue anybody and are you really serious about it?

Perhaps some information as to how to pay for and receive the 'English television package' would be very useful.

BFBS Is not a pay-per-view service!

BFBS Television is broadcast in some areas as a terrestrial service, but is encrypted for copyright reasons, as it is intended solely for HM Forces and their families. Until 1997, it was widely available in Cyprus, but its signal is now encrypted or confined to the Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia as local broadcasters had bought local rights to show English football.

Hi LaptaGeezer,

That would be up to the ministry of defence to allow the additional access to the service. At the moment we are bound by very strict rules on who can access the service.

Hi elko2,

We look at various options, our key suspect is always the person who as signed for the viewing card. As they are bound standing orders and terms of card issue to return the card and not pass it on to non entitled people.

I've lost it is not a valid excuse. This person can lose their rank, job and be fined. This has happened in Cyprus.

Any persons vieiwng card found in a sharing network will lose access to the satellite service globally.

Any evidence found can and is shared with other pay tv operators, they can then take out another action against a suspect under local laws. I will fraud / obtaining services by deception is one that has been used in the past.

Although it is a cat and mouse game and we are very good at it.

@Hector,

You could join the army and hope you get posted here ;-)

Sadly the only official packages in Cyprus are NOVA and DIGITURK depending on where you are.

They do have dual sound tracks, on some channels.

I know big dishes are very popular but these will be useful woks in the coming 2-3 years as the popular satellites such as Astra 28.2 / Eurobird are replaced with new generation satellites with tightly focused spot beams allowing the downlink freqs to be used over and over again. So there could be for example a UK spot beam on 11.211v and from the same satellite on the same freq a focused beam on poland.

It will happen, there is information on the SES websites.

I hate breaking bad news.... honest !

Some of the information I have obtained.

Dear Customer

I am writing to let you know the good news that we are now able to provide our Customers with the BFBS TV Package with immediate effect.

We have made the decision to support this new package, partially as a result of the fact that we have not yet been able to provide support for the new, updated OSN package as we had hoped. We are still working on this but in the meantime we would like to recommend that you consider BFPS TV as a very good additional option.

To summarise, the package includes a selection of live programs from the following UK providers:

The package has eight channels BFBS 1 to 8 inclusive. Under normal circumstances, subscribers to BFBS would require a four meter dish in addition to the annual subscription fee. The DOPI implementation utilises one of your existing dishes which will need to be reoriented and reconfigure

The provision of the new BFBS package will be included within your current annual subscription fee. There is a “one off” engineering fee which will be carried out by our subcontractor at cost. The implementation charges will range from a minimum of 50TL to a maximum of 180TL. The charges will depend on our customers existing satellite set up. IE How many dishes are there in place and can the reorienting of the satellite dish be done from the same location on the house.

I don't want people being ripped off, paying to have their dish turned and then getting nothing in return. There are alot of scams out there, and card sharing scams are on the increase.

If you ever have a court case in TRNC against somebody, please do let us know and I will take my seat at the front row to see how good you are at this cat and mouse game. I am prepared to put a bet ten to one against the cat

what a load of tosh msg1 , dopi suddenly announce this service , then you join as a new member to tear its legality to bits , why have you just joined under the name bfbs-tv ? where were you on other similar threads ? or are you another in disguise ? me thinks the latter is the obvious answer .

forward in accessing live TV coverage from the key UK TV providers.

BFBS publish their full TV schedules on the internet which can be accessed via the following link/URL.

http://www.bfbs.com/tv/whats_on_tv.php?channel=8001&date=08052011&timezone=3&timezone_name=CYP

Please take a look at the schedule and see how broad the range of live programs is available to you, if you do decide to take us up on our recommendation. You will notice that there is a seven day schedule by program available for printing.

(BFBS channel 8 is the SKY News channel)

Note

DOPI have entered into an initial twelve month agreement with BFBS. The only potential problem at some time in the future would be if they were to move to a HD transmission service requiring HD boxes. At this stage we see this as a very low probability for the foreseeable future.

For those of you wishing to proceed please contact us on 0533 860 10 10 to make the necessary arrangements to schedule your system u

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the email - Yes I have got a comment, but first - read this from the BFBS Television Web site:-

I'm an ex-pat. Can I watch BFBS TV?

No. The television service is only available to British Forces personnel and their families. You can however watch BFBS Reports online.

http://www.bfbs.com/tv/tv_faq

AND here is my comment:- how someone can STEAL from a Charity supplying TV to our armed forces is beyond me - Despicable !

And I bet some 'low-life' Brits will go for it too

Kind Regards

Mark

I dont know why i was copied into this email, but i was, maybe by mistake, also around 150 to 200 email addresses of people i do not know are in the email for me to see. Seems nothing is private anymore!

DOPI have entered into an initial twelve month agreement with BFBS. The only potential problem at some time in the future would be if they were to move to a HD transmission service requiring HD boxes.

There is no agreement with DOPI for access to the BFBS service. BFBS do not enter into any agreements with re-broadcasters of any kind.

The current pace Cryptoworks boxes will be door stops later this year along with the Cryptoworks viewing cards.

BFBS card numbers are in the following ranges

3611 1279 XXXX (White card)

3611 1280 XXXX (White card)

3654 0776 XXXX (Purple card)

3654 0777 XXXX (Purple card)

All BFBS boxes around the world will be replaced Aug-Sep 2011, as we will be moving over to a new CA system which is currently testing. If you look at the stream you will see extra ECM and EMM streams.
