Today I was driving to Buyukkonuk for a meeting and saw a car (Citroen) out of road just passed Kaplica. the driver stopped me and asked if I can help him. He could't bring the car back to the road as the car was in the mud. There was a heavy rain. I got out and tried to fix the rope but we couldn't find any place to fix it. we looked for couple of minutes under heavy rain but couln't succeded. we both have shower with rain in the mud then we called rent-a-car company and they told where the fixing place is( sorry I don't know whether these words are correct). It was hidden with a plastic cover. Then we can managed to bring the car to the road and I've attended my meeting as I am. Thanks to the owner of Galifes Guest House in Büyükkonuk for giving me their son's dry clothes

I have learned a new thing today under heavy rain, in a mud bath; where to fix the rope to pull a citroen car

I helped somebody, and another somebody helped me today; I love my life ))

Dear Yussuf!

I am sitting at my uncle's desc top and see your message!

So i have the opportunity to say once more thank you very much for your help.

Sorry, that you got wet as much as i did myself. With your help i was able to

continue my trip with the rented citroen over Buyukkonuk to Famagusta, where

i visited the cathedral. Before i had a break at silver beach to dry my clothes.

At 7.00 p.m. i arrived in Lapta again. So the day did find a good end.

Sorry but tomorrow is my last day on Cyprus, but perhaps i can make a visit to

you during my next holiday here. All the best for you and your familiy.

Peter from Germany

Hello Peter, nice to meet you

I'm surprised that you have read my post here

sorry for saying somebody to you in the post, because I didn't know you.

hope you enjoyed your holiday here.

there is a saying in turkish meaning people need people. it was another different experience for me in my life so you needn't to say sorry

have a nice flight,

What a heartening read this was.

Yussuf is correct, people need people (no man is an island)

Thankyou for reminding us all of this on the Forum.

Perhaps we also might not pass by someone in need.

Certainly, Peter from Germany will never forget his chance meeting with Yussuf.

some years ago we were poodling via jimney jeep along the sandy path to bafra,

about a mile or two short of what is nowadays the artemis hotel

and somehow, managed to get stuck in soft sand, only later did I find the 2wd/4wd switch

a jolly jape turned into a scary, thirsty experience and by now the sun was nearly down

eventually we did find a couple of blokes eating supper at some sort of processing plant

up on the ridge, and they brought us water and collected ten mates and pulled us free

driving off with panic slowly subsiding, and executing a three-point turn into a driveway,

a lady in a nearby villiage said "hello"

to which I tartly replied basil fawlty-style "is there a problem?"

but very soon we bowled into buyukkonuk of all places by chance

and discoved the eco- scene there and have been back many times since

...serdali is another villiage which seems to have good vibes

andre

ps: anyone know what the bafra factory was and if it is still there? oli

we were chased up the road by a big chap from the corner grocer's in buyukkonuk:

I thought we had forgotten to pay for something,

...but actually he wanted to give us a huge bunch of local black grapes
