It is going to come to us all sooner or later... Have you had a near death experiance been dead and revived ?? what if any thing can you remember ? Do you believe in life after death ? Will we remember this life in the next life if there is one ? Will we learn from our mistakes in this life? Or are we reincarnated into a new being ? Or as I tend to believe once you are dead you are dead dead dead. Just wondering what others though .

Speak for yourself, I intend to live forever and please don't burst my bubble! Nige, maybe you were a worm in a former life... as you can't remember being anything else.... ha ha If we learned from our mistakes in this life we wouldn't come back as humans that's for sure... Funny how those (nutters) who do believe in re-incarnation invariably believe themselves to have been re-incarnated from some well-known important character... what's that called? Oh yeah, delusions of grandeur....

Having lost dear ones myself I like to think they had a full life and enjoyed it,rather than thining we will meet again. That brings all sorts of problems it to it, if one has lost a partner and moves on do you get them both in the next life .... some people i know who have passed on I would not want to meet in this the next or any life how does one avaoid them ?? Whilst it can and is of comfort to some to believe they will meet thier loved ones again I fear this is a comforting idea rather than a genuine belief. Not wishing to offend any one or be at all unsympathetic to the berievedin any way.

I worked in a hospice, and have seen patients in their last hours talking to and being comforted by deceased loved ones. I would get confirmation from a relative that the name the were calling and speaking with had also passed away. Never did I come across a patient talking to a loved one whom was still alive. I have visited many countries and taken many pictures, I have to take pics for work purposes. But it is only when I visit Cyprus , North and South I get orb's in the shot. Not the same camera.

I was looking after a gentleman for numerous years. He was a successful business man but had Muscular Distrophy, so had very little movement. One typical night I was with him, he asked me what time it was and was a little aggitated. No sooner had he asked me what time it was he stopped breathing. I was so shocked this was so unexpected. I must stress that he had a face mask on that would blow air into his lungs, due to the weakness of his heart muscle. This macine made a steady rhythmatic noise, but suddenly started to make an hissing noise of the air being pushed out of the mask. I had no equipement to resuscitate.

I now had to wake up his wife and tell her. A gentle approach was needed, I asked her to come to his room she started groaning he wanted the loo (often happened in the night, and he only liked his wife to carry this out for him). I suggested it was not that, but it was very serious. I would have said it took her 5-6 mins to get to his side. They lived in a wonderful barn conversion, so she needed to go throgh a few rooms and up a flight of stairs. I allowed her to discover his state, that took some time to come to terms with, she just picked up his hand and stroked it saying he was dead. I asked for their doctors name and number she couldn't think, so again took time to coax this information from her.

She finally gave me the information and I called the doctor from an ajoining room, but only feet away from the bed. She then asked me to call an ambulance instead, I respected her wishes, but knowing this was not appropriate. I was now on the phone to the emercency services. And suddenly I could hear her saying" you old bugger you really had us fooled this time". I finished the call and walked into the room. And there he was the biggest smile on his face, never said anything just smiling at us both..... it radiated the room. The emergency services arrived, but sadly he passed away on arrival at the hospital. We both spoke of this experience, I was aware that he used to dream that he could walk. We both believe he came just to say goodbye to his wife and that he was going somewhere nice.

Fascinating... experiences like this should be collected somewhere... When I watch films like The Green Mile - Steven King, I always think, why would someone invent a story like this when real life is so full of truly fascinating occurrences like this? Life really is stranger than fiction.... Gillken, it's usually associated with young people, never heard of Muscular Distrophy affecting older people....

Interesting posts gillken Nige, I keep an open mind. I am not sure. A good dvd to watch is 'the voice'. On it Michael Mann the film director (Heat, last of the mohicans, the insider, collatoral etc) talks about his life after death experience with his father. Dr Gary Scwartz in his book 'the living energy universe - a fundamental discovery that transforms science and medicine' writes about how life after death is scientifically possible. Scwartz has a new book out which I haven't read which is called 'The G.O.D Experiements - how science is finding god in everything, including us'

Groucho Well.... you have to be young to get old, and yes he had it all his life, a progressive disease. More common in males. Think there is a little doubt there, but when a story like that occurs, it is hard to believe.I would have my doubts too, but it really happened just as I said. I have for most of my live worked in the nursing industry, and I have many many stories. For many years I worked in an ex workhouse, some of the patients were actually left over from those days. Could tell you a few stories drom there. Saw some really strange things there. But the best was a nursing home and an owgie board........never again.

My mother was a Matron at Lord Mayor Treloar's College in Froyle, Hants and we (four sisters and a brother) grew up knowing many young men with MD. In fact a lad called Charlie was a favourite with my sisters... he was a real live wire even though he had MD. His life expectancy was not much beyond 25 but he didn't give a shit and lived his life to the full. He has been sadly missed...

thats a very thought provoking topic nige,i suppose that as we get older we think more of death, but as it comes too all of us why worry ,as they say we are along time dead.if i met my wife in the after life would she still keep giving me an ear bashing or a cuff around the head who knows.if i could be re - incarnated i would like to come back as a sand fly, and get my revenge on her. she said that when i die that she wanted too stand on my grave, i said thats o,k as i wanted to buried at sea.anyway.

I'm with gillken on this one, could go on for ages with experiences I have had personally. Even as far as an old work colleague getting in touch with me after going to a spiritualist with a message from a colleague who had died 6 months prior. The message saying sorry he did not mean it to happen and could i forgive him? Also that the ladies who where there were furious with him....

Musin, Not being derogatory but I notice you say "sorry" I am curious to know why. I had a similar experience to you, I actually died twice through cardiac arrest. What a beautiful feeling then they brought me back. At the time, I would have been quite happy if they hadn`t. Wont go on any further but I must say I will never be afraid of dying. Nige, Dont worry. I wont say any more about it in case it encourages doubters.

Nige, "When ever i used to go in the house my gran died in if I went ustairs I fel a presence and gold like a cold sweat no idea what it was and never saw owt but it sure felt strange. " That's just the sweats from puffing up the stairs.... I once viisted a house I'd never been in before - my parents were thinking of moving.. and it was wierd because I knew the layout of the entire house and felt strangley at home... which is even odder because we didn't buy it.

whistler i am not afraid of dying ,if you have experienced it then you must understand what i am talking about, however you must be ready for it ,i was young and therefore not ,which is why i believe i am still here. however the scars on my body are a constant reminder how lucky i have been. i do not believe in life after death. we are but short stories mate ,live it to the full you never know when the story ends. musin

now i'm a non believer in life after death.when your gone your gone. we used to live in a very old house, when we moved in no problem. when we knocked out the kitchen strange things started happening. one night we are in the dinning room, (open plan from the kitchen), no windows or doors open and a tea towel lifted up from the middle of the worktop and then dropeed down onto the floor. hubby and i just looked at each other is disbelief. one afternoon tv is on, suddenly it turns off. i just think that one of the dogs sat on the remote. when i looked they were all in the garden. this was a new tv and it has worked perfectly ever since selling that house. odd things happened the whole time we lived there. it didn't bother us, we use to call our ghost mr clark, but looking back throught the history it could have been a number of people. when we gave the estate agent the keys to do viewings whilst we were away, we always had a good laugh about not telling them!

If you have got digiturk on the 'zone reality' channel (85, I think) around 9 in the eve there is a programme about this American medium/physic that reconnects people that have passed over with there loved ones, not the other way round. It is totally engrossing because he is saying things that are completely personal to that particular person (the people that are passed over ask him to say certain things to verify they are actually who they say they are!) or family. One example was 2 sisters were in the audience who had lost their father, their father spoke through the medium and said to tease them about throwing cheese squares!! At first they didn't recall anything, but suddenly remembered when they were kids they went camping and took some of those plastic looking cheese squares, went to a field with cows in and played a game to see how many of these cheese squares they could get to land on the cows noses. This all happened after the father has passed away!!!

There are so many other unbelieveable examples, I couldn't list them all, he said to one family, did your husband swallow a fish for a joke? He started retching on stage and saying he felt ill, and they confirmed that at a party in had in fact done it. A groups of friends had their friend 'come through' and the medium said, he is saying to tease you about being gay. What's that about? And his mate said he always used to tell the good-looking girls that I was gay, so he would stand a better chance!! The observations are so personal and so off the wall that even a sceptic would be hard pressed to explain it. In fact, they do go back to the families afterwards and the sceptic in the family watches the tape back and is generally astounded. I think his name is John Edward, it is an amazing, astounding, engrossing programme, its American so a bit over sentimental sometimes, but you have to see it to believe it. And it is VERY believable.

"And it is VERY believable." That's how tricksters work... It's not for nothing they are called confidence tricks when they cheat people... they rely on your belief... What you don't see is all the research going on before and during the making of such programs... or the bits they cut out because the medium gets it totally wrong... Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those that believes in nothing after death but I don't believe anybody should be making money out of other peoples hopes and fears and that's what this person is undoubtedly doing... Like Patrick Moore's explanation of Astrology "I do believe that it proves one thing.... there is one born every minute."

Groucho, I'm sorry but research wouldn't uncover the sort of things he comes out with. Don't be so quick to judge if you haven't seen the programme. Or have you?

I am with Groucho on that one, post 54 I was recently reading that two hospitals plan to put items at ceiling level & out of sight,to test if there is any truth in the stories of people saying that they had the out of body experience when dead, looking down on themselves on the operating table. All i can say to that is,i had a uncle who claims it happened to him,he was never known for his porkys.

It's very clever to go from dead relative to the open room as it makes the chances of hitting a gullible audience member exponentially greater.... They use stooges to enter the throng arriving and listen for people offering up private info and they also get them to pose questions like "I'm here to see if my aunty Vera is OK... who are you looking to hear from" They also use stooges who claim to members of the general public to give all the right answers... it makes good TV and the audience are sucked in... they pay a lot of money to be in the audience.... James Randi has exposed umpteen of these charlatans and they won't let him into their shows now.... http://www.randi.org/joom/latest-jref-news/mark-edward-climbs-aboard-to-chase-el-chupacabra-2.html

i agree groucho these people don't speak to the dead. they are just good readers of people! i visited a spiritualist with a friend her in cyprus. i have never done it before, not my thing as a non believer. just went to support my mate. my conclusion is that what she told me, could have been the same for many people. she wanted to hold a piece of my jewelry, i gave her a braclet. the braclet has idalow man figures on it, hubby got it for me in spain, its like a good luck symbol. she told me i would leave cyprus in 4 years and go and live in spain. now i love spain but wouldn't live there. she just got this idea from the braclet, not from some spiritual place. add to that she charges 70ytl a go.

Hi Mitsi , Re Mes 61 Its origin is in astrology. A return is when a planet returns to the same position it was in when you were born. So for example your Jupiter return happens every twelve years. It's said on your birthday because the Sun has (seemingly) returned to its position it was in when you were born : in actual fact it is the return of the Earth to its same position in its orbit around the Sun. Put very simply, it means that every time this day returns (All your next birthdays) may they be happy. Many happy returns of the day.
