I am sick of Karaoke and Elvis Impersonators!

I love 70's & 80's Dicso, Soul and Funk and would consider organising some events. So I would love to hear if there are any more of you like me and what you would like.

Any Ideas????

Roxy, Bowie, Ultravox, Simple Minds, Level 42, Cool and the Gang, Narada Michael Walden, Sylvester, anything involving Quincy Jones and Nile Rogers e.g. Sister Sledge and Chic, Shakatak, Hamilton Bohannon, Rose Royce, Donna Summer, Randy Crawford, The Crusaders. And some 60s and 70s soul for the older crowd.

Play some of that and you might smoke Zoots out.

Since when was Bowie or Ultravox or Simple Minds considered either Disco or Soul and Funk ?

Better watch out Bowie may well consider such a claim libelous lol.

To the orginal poster , I do like soul and funk from that era and would be interested in such events. I have been know to strut my funky stuff now and then.

No sign of Bowie, Ultravox, Simple Minds or level 42 though.

Atumpy...Are we talking Lovers Rock Reggae?

What sort of event would appeal? Good music and Drinks? Buffet? DJ? Even a themed night to get dressed up in the late 70's gear maybe????

I have dozens of 1980s 12 inch singles left behind from the disco we closed back in 1992! Get me couple of turntables and don't worry about the rest.

I present the Soul Train Radio show every Saturday on Radio Bayrak International (87.8 & 105FM). All the tracks that I play are mine and have over 3000 Motown, Disco and American & British Soul tracks.

Show can also be heard on computer on http://www.brtk.net It's broadcasted at 10am & repeated at 10pm every Saturday.

Last year (along with Mike Schofield) we had a very succesful Motown Disco evening at the Sempati, Karsiyaka raising money for 112. Over 120 people attended and I agree with you, there is a demand for this type of music.

112 organisers Mike & Brenda Plant along with Jenny Tyler have asked for 2 more Motown events this year, possibly covering both sides of Girne.

Wach this space
