On page 40 of Fridays 'Cyprus Star' there is a write up that mentions that Pete Murray was the former leader of the Outlaws. The Outlaws would like to point out that Pete has never been the leader. The original leader was Chris.

Pete actually only sung with the Outlaws about 4 times.

The Outlaws just want this to be clear!

@ msg 5, fatboy: I (Johnny Cash fan) seem to remember they came together as "The Highwaymen" - four written off old men having huge successes during great live concerts. Indeed, the Real Deal!

Here's one of their best: ▶ [ http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/The_Last_Cowboy_Song.mp3 ]

And one my favourites: ▶ [ http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/Seven_Spanish_Angels.mp3 ]

"four written off old men"

I don't think so DC... just pals deciding to have some fun in their twilight years. They were never written-off/

And sorry, slightly off topic, but I couldn't resist it in this thread, my personal tribute to the greatest of them all, Johnny Cash:

I have been to 7 Johnny Cash concerts in the UK and shook his hand at one of them, he can never be replaced. 6 Willie Nelson concerts he is just something else, a wonderful entertainer.

@ msg 7, Groucho: View the picture below (the original start of the 'new career' of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Willy Nelson) and tell me the story behind the picture and the formation of "The Highwaymen" - four (you agree?) old (you agree?) written-off (you disagree) Country & Western singers.

P.S. The picture is not personal... Millions have seen it happen.

@ msg 9, Woodspeckie: I once had the privilege to interview Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash in Amsterdam (before a concert) and still have the UNCENSORED (no silly peeps) San Quentin LP with both their signatures, which they presented me!

So just because I disagree, you find it necessary to be offensive... I'm sure it's not for the first time somebody has made the gesture to you.

RE msg 12, Groucho: (...) So just because I disagree, you find it necessary to be offensive... I'm sure it's not for the first time somebody has made the gesture to you. (...)

Gavin: I wrote THIS in msg 10: "P.S. The picture is not personal... Millions have seen it happen." The gesture has NOTHING to do with you. It is the famous gesture by Johnny Cash when he was 'written-off' for a big show in the USA and subsequently made one of his most famous LP's. When he got a prize for that record he made the gesture ON TV, meant for the people who had written him off. And then Cash and other 'old, written-off C&W singers' (friends of Cash) decided to form The Highwaymen.

I'm very sorry that you took it personal, although I explained already in msg 10. The gesture has NOTHING (NOTHING) to do with you and everything with Johnny Cash and later The Highwayman. Maybe if you reread my message 10 again you'll understand that your perception is wrong.

DC, Maybe you should not have entitled the picture "for you reply"... as this gave the impression that it was personal even if you, as I thought, disingenuously stated that it wasn't.

"Impression...", "disingenuously...". The picture (one of thousands I have collected about Johnny Cash throughout the years) was and is filed on my hard drive and titled adequately from the beginning "for_you_reply.jpg".

That's all there is to say about the picture.

In msg 10 I asked you about the story BEHIND the picture - not what you would prefer to read or think.

I leave the thread to you.

Honi soit qui mal y pense.

Hans

My suggestion was based on postings no. 12 and 14.

If these were not personal insults then I apologise to Gavin now. But if they were then I am disappointed in the member that made them.

In msg 23 I tried to get this thread back on track, but... msg 23-24-25-26 followed. What's wrong with you people? Start another thread!

@ msg 28: (...) Kibris 14 : (...)

You must have been thinking a lot of time - about your absolutely senseless reply.
