Obviously the money will go into a fund to help them find their daughter.

I'm sorry, call me heartless but I do think that this story has been receiving excessive media coverage compared to other missiing children who too have never been found. Let's not forget how this poor little girl was taken from her holiday home. While both her parents were drinking and dining with friends a few hundred yards away, this little girl was left all alone in a strange new house.

I really do feel for any parent who has lost a child but when it is due to parental neglect then I think the media should be concentrating their efforts on the parents just as much and plenty of questions need to be answered. Yes, it's tragic that this girl has yet to be found, but in my opinion the parents are not totally innocent in this case and I think David Cameron was too quick to jump on to this publicity wagon by ordering the Met police to re-launch an investigation. What about all the other parents who are still looking for their lost ones, those that never left them at home alone?

if the Mccann's were at all involved in this tragic story would they be bringing it to the public eye whenever possible? wouldnt they want to slip into oblivion............they want it back in the media eye because there are alot of unanswered questions here which were hushed up by the portugese police.........you only have to look at the mother to know she is a haunted women......I think we can all say there for the grace of God go I? How many of us can honestly say we have had our children in our sight 24 hours of every day... it was no different than sitting outside in your garden having a BBQ whilst the children sleep upstairs......we can all be wise after the event...........

Surely the McCanns own business, not really a subject for a public forum.

Shrimp, I fully accept what you're saying and let me make it clear, I have no doubt that the parents were not involved in the kidnapping, but leaving you kids in a hotel or holiday home in a country / location you're not familiar with yet, is different to leaving your children asleep in their own bedroom at home while you're in the garden. I just feel that there are other families out there that deserve this huge media coverage too... what makes these parents so special?

Yes, it is easy to talk about all the 'what ifs' after the event, but I just feel this one was just basic common sense, especially for two highly educated individuals. I really do hope they find this little girl and it ends on a happy note.

The Home Office are allocating £3.5 million pounds to the met police, to cover the investigation, there are a lot of people missing including children why has this money not been allocated to look for them, I do feel sorry for the McCanns but also for other parents too.

I feel for these two. Yes, they made a stupid mistake by leaving their daughter alone. I bet there's been many parents who have done similar things over the years too, it was unfortunate what happened to their daughter. And I bet they've been regretting it ever since, they'll probably never get over the heartache and guilt they feel, even if they do get her back.

Yes, there's others who have missing children but if the McCann's have been prepared to go to such lengths for so long to keep their daughter in the public eye, why shouldn't they get this recognition. It isn't their fault that other parents with missing children haven't gone to the same effort (or been able to). I applaude their commitment and strength for soldiering on with trying to keep this case alive, it also gives them some hope to hold on to.

I do hope that one day they will all be reunited.

There is also a faint possibility that by Scotland Yard opening up the inquiry that they may find other lost kids, especially if it is a known group of pedophiles who have been kidnapping all, or some, the missing children.

Time can hide a lot of previous detail but it can also open minds with guilt.

Hope that someone, somewhere will now be compelled to talk, because without a doubt, someone, somewhere, knows what happened to Madelene and the many other missing children.

Enough time has now elapsed to make new enquiries , and who knows, a new brain, different thoughts, something not-thought of before, just maybe, this case can be cracked at last.

I hope so.
