| Eliminating stop-start cycles (as with non-inverter a/c) increases efficiency, extends the life of components, and helps eliminate sharp fluctuations in the load the air conditioner places on the power supply. Ultimately this makes inverter air conditioners less prone to breakdowns, cheaper to run, and the outdoor compressor is generally quieter than a standard air conditioning unit's compressor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverter_(air_conditioning) Bottom line - If you live here it's worth investing in inverter a/c as the reduced running costs will recoup the extra cost of buying the unit within a few years. If your property is not used full time (i.e. holiday home) it will take too long to recover the extra cost. If you require a quote, contact me on vaughan@sunnycyprus.net |

| As I understand it Normal aircon is either full on or full off. Inverter aircon can be run at varying speeds, so at 30 % , 50%, 70% etc. As most of the elctricity usgae with aircons is starting up, this ability to run at varying different 'speeds' reduces the number of times the aircon will start up from off compared with a simple all on all off one, and thus can save money on electricty usage. Also inverter systems because they have degress of 'on' are not so 'harsh' when turned on, you do not get a sudden full on blast of icy air, but a more gradual reducing of temperature. Anyway thats how I understand it but I am no expert. I am sure others will come along with better info. |
