Hı All, i am sure i am not the fırst stupıd holıday maker to fall for a stray dog and i wont be the last. However thıs dog (bıtch) ıs partıcually lovely. She ıs a sprınger spanıal (ı think). She has an amazıng temprement, she clearly has been loved once by someone. She understands basıc comands (in englısh!). id estımate she is between 18months - 2yrs old. She appears extremely healthy ıf just a bıt underweıght. I would take her home ıf ı could. If you want to gıve her a home or may know someone who does, please gıve me a call on 07793 036877. I have been to the vet and treated her wıth some tıc oıntment already.

Thank you

Davıd.

We have similar, stray springer spaniel, black/white approx 2 years old also needing home. It is so difficult now to re-home even good looking dogs. Good luck David hope someone will take her.

From now on there will be dozens of post similar to this one and equally dozens more phone calls to KAR. from holiday makers who fall in love with a particular cat or dog. Some wonderful people actually take the bull by the horns and make arrangements through KAR to take the animal back to UK, or wherever. Would that there were more like them. Please don't makea pet of the dog and don't invite it into your home, but feed and water it outside the walls of your premises. That way, you build it up but it doesn't suffer the trauma of being abandoned yet another time by people the animal thinks are to be his new owners. Thanks.

Sorry Msg 5 you have given out an incorrect number. 0392 is a land line number and they don't have that. Please ring 0533 8694098 for the office.

yes lets hope you can get it sorted soon. A friend of mine fell in love with two last year. Through KAR she got them back to the UK. They love it and they are so happy. She dosent regret it for one minute.

Hi David, hope you managed to sort out transport etc back to UK for the spaniel or a new home? I apologise for hijacking your thread but it is on topic, I am sure you will understand.

Anyone who has heaps of energy and patience and would like a really good looking springer spaniel please see this picture of Muffin.

He must have a dedicated permanent home as he has been rejected so many times already. A fun dog, eager to please and in need of training. He can be seen here in the kennels at Kaplica. Thank you.

Londondave - what a wonderful bloke you are - I think the first I have read on this forum who has fallen for a stray and willing/able to get her back to UK. I do hope you manage to find a way.........

If the Restaurant owner knows who abandoned her, please name and shame them on this forum - animals are being dumped daily........

Msg. 9. Although Muffin isn't a pure bred (and it hardly matters one jot does it?) I'm glad you drew attention to him needing exercise. All Spaniels are bred from the original Spanish gun dogs and as such do need discipline and exercise as they can be exciteable. Having said that they make wonderful housedogs and pets and reward their owners with "oodles" of love. Their eyes say it all!!

Tango1 yes you are absolutely right about spaniels, given exercise and training they are one of the best breeds of dog, many are used now as sniffer dogs too.

Hi All,

I have returned home to London now. I am awaiting a response from KAR re any help at all they can offer her. I've named her Shadow by the way. I have offered to pay for any boarding, food and treatment for as long as it takes until they find her a good home. As for bringing her back to the UK, my wife and i are still in disscusions. In the meantime i appeal to all you animal lovers. Please copy and paste the link below. It will take you to a flicker page with a photo of me and her. This way i don't have to describe her. She isn't a spanial but a short haired german pointer i think. You can find her after two down at Kervansaray beach. Walk down the ramp and turn left at the bottom. Nearest the Mercure private part. She needs your help guys. She isn't a street wise dog and isn't coping well with the recent tempreture rise. Please pop down there if you can and give her some water and a bite. Thank you x

Msg 14, yes you're correct, she isn't a Spaniel and yes she is a pointer. Very, very similar one that used to wander around the spare land and car-park of Tempo in Karaoglanoglu with a friend, and then about 3 months ago both of them disappeared. Actually dogs that are born and bred in the heat of the TRNC,manage fairly well, provided they have access to water and a dustbin!!. I can't help feeling she may well have been deliberately dumped because it's well known that Kervans Bar is a popular watering hole for Ex-pats.

Yes, another Pointer x thrown out after hunting season probably, poor girl. Hope somebody will take care of her while you are away and she doesn't get poisoned. Good luck Shadow. Wish we could take her but we have 7 stray pointers here already.

Unfortunately LondonDave, you may be expecting too much of KAR. I would think that if they do take her then she will probably be spayed, given a years vaccination, a paraban collar, tagged and then put back more or less where she was collected. (Unless of course you have been assured otherwise). If she stays at the Centre, then you do realise it is virtually imprisonment for life. Of course people do go there and choose a dog (bless them), but with over 200 to choose from you only have to do the maths. Re my Msg.3, I was horribly afraid this would be the way the matter ended. Once people discover the cost of flights and quarantine they usually change their mind and again the dog is abandoned.

However, its to be hoped that people visiting Kervanseray will recognise her and give her some food and more importantly at this time of the year, water.

THIS IS A REPLY TO TANGO1 MESSAGE 17.

I have not abandoned her. I simply fed and watered her where i found her each day. I suggest you re read my posts from the start. Without my intervention she would still be covered in tics and skinny. Please tell me what more i could have done or could be doing right now?

Dave, you couldn't do any more, you don't live here, you did your best. It's just a sad reflection of what happens every day here. It was not you that abandoned her it was the person who 'bred/owned' her initially. If you want her cared for permanently, we have a sponsorship programme here at k9. Contact me for more details.
