Well I have had a very bad day today coming to terms with everything thats happened recently. Tonight my daughter called to say her father is dead,My ex husband 66 years old. My poor girl. Im trying to get back now, sods law when Guido starts his new job tomorrow. I cant book till I know when the funeral is, then a bank holiday comimg up . Got a few flights on stand by . Will this nightmare ever end xxxxxxxxxxxxx

well I'm sorry to hear this for your daughter, but why are you so worried about getting back for his funeral, you didn'tnt see him when he was alive.

It always amazes me, as a florist, someone dies, the whole world of families want to go to the funeral, but who was there in the final hours?

Did you not have a post about a member of your family recently , long gone from your life, but you were trying to get back for the funeral?..what is it about funerals that attract people.

Sorry, but my opinion is, if you aren't here to celebate my life with me, please don't celebrate my death for me

flower fairy she is in tears she is distraught. I saw him every time i went back. The family member you mention was my favourite brother in law, i saw them also and they came here to see me, again it was a bloody bank holiday I had not got the money they asked for the flights.Whilst I appreciate your comments, I did see him every time we went home as we did actually remain friends.We spoke every week , not only a daughter but grandchildren also. Common ground

I divorced my now ex-husband many years ago. We have remained on reasonably good terms, because, at the end of the day, he is my son's father. If, God forbid, anything happened to him and my son asked for my help, I would certainly try to help him in any way I could.

Sorry to hear that Lilli. I know how you feel in some way, as have had a spate of deaths over

last few weeks of family and friends. I just phoned my own daughter as I have felt for her over

death of her future brother-in-law who died far too young leaving 2 small children.

Have to go to another funeral tomorrow - matter of respect and consideration for family.

Hope you find a way there. xxx

I was married at 20 - we parted a few months later (had been together since fourteen it was a mistake to marry) he has had three wives throughout the years, and now has someone living with him - we are still friends and my daughter is friends with one of his sons!!!!!!! Obviously Lilli wants to support her daughter, who has just lost her dad. Lilli, I am quite sure Guilo can start his new job with out you there, if your daughter is so in bits and you cant get a flight, perhaps she and her children can escape to you in NC, after the funeral. Often these are the darkest days, l always think my darkest time is a couple of weeks later, when all the fuss and people get on with their own lives.

Lilli , there are flights for £181 flying into Luton/heathrow/ gatwick . It might be worth considering , then going on to cardiff by bus or train . It will be cheaper for sure .

On another point that I too agree with what Flowerfairy has stated.



It amazed me at a family funeral, how many people turned up, who had basically turned away from visiting and actually helping..... Hypocrites, they only came to scoff the food at the wake and cry crocodile tears ...

You know the same thing happened to me just before I moved back to the UK, my Sons rang to say their Father had just died from a heart attack, you just want to be with them, even though they are your Ex's you have children with them so it breaks your heart for their loss.

I can sympathise and emphasise with your daughter and her extended family. My thoughts are with you all. Loss is one of the biggest lessons we have to learn and deal with, and it is not easy.
