We spent seven very happy months in Lapta renting an apartment, returning to Bournemouth mid April.

The weekly quizzes, great nights in the Queens Bar ( Hakkie's), excellent evenings at Rosie's Bar, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable seven months. Reasons for coming to TRNC in the 1st place ? Having retired from a very busy working life in the M East, we came to see if we wanted to settle full time.

Reasons for leaving ? Several come to mind, but primarily that we would be thoroughly bored within a short period. North Cyprus is a very small place with fine weather most of the year, a great social life, but little else. Idyllic for holiday visits which we will definitely do in the future.

Back home, our days are full with visiting places of historic & cultural interest & beauty we never had the time for previously. Not to mention currently gorgeous weather!!! I stress CURRENTLY. For all those who can afford to, UK permanently with long winter visits to the lovely North Cyprus

@ msg 1, napolean: (...) North Cyprus is a very small place with fine weather most of the year, a great social life, but little else. (...)

▶ I'm trying to understand whether your post is funny or sad. Where did you look for "places of historic & cultural interest & beauty" in TRNC - in the triangle formed by your house, Queens bar and Rosie's Bar..?!

napolean. Did you miss out on the Bingo? Agree with what you are saying, we feel exactly the same, we enjoy our visit Dec/Jan but having weighed up the pro's and con's of living North Cyprus or Turkey decided we would stay here in the UK. We enjoy holidys to Turkey in May & September but have UK breaks in Pembrokeshire and Yorkshire Dales booked next couple of months.

Come now, be gentle with the lower classes. They are not to know, the 10 thousand year history of this lovely island of ours.

That reminds me I must visit Stonehenge one more time.

It's a shame I spotted it too late, so won't be able to attend:

I'll be missing on the "art of Tattooing and the LIFESTYLE and CULTURE that surround the scene", and of course "BURLESQUE and much more..." ( I wonder, how much more...)

Its the friendliness, sincerity & kind hearted nature & general 'live & let live' nature on (certain) posters on this Board that constantly hits new heights....
