As one who loves all of God's critters - except when they are the ones of which I am terrified - I am afraid the answer is always the same when they invade my privacy. The dreaded spray! It sometimes takes an entire container to kill of that horrible cockraoch (why did God create THEM), or one of those deadly spiders about umpteen inches across and full of intentions to maid me. Lizards can come and go - love them, but poison spiders and cockroaches are NOT my friends. So, Sirin, I am one of the supermarket's best customers when it comes to insect spray of varying strengths and purposes. So, I ask myself if I really DO love all of God';s critters, or whether I don't understand the pecking order of nature, especially if I am on the receiving end. So what does the beautiful Sirin do?

I had a large lizard (very large) in my front room in Karsiyaka. Its eyes were closed so I was unsure if it was asleep or dead. I ran to my neighbours house and he, having worked in Africa was not a bit worried. He said fetch him a broom, which I did, and then he quite gently tried to sweep him out the French windows. The lizard was not happy about being woke up in such a rude manner....... he stood up, turned around, hissed at us and ran out !!!!

Many odd things were disappearing in my house fruit flowers candles under wear! This went on for a few weeks but no clues. Then one day i saw some droppings and i ran called the pest control and they found a large rat living behind my washing machine where it had made a nest. I was really terrified at the thought of me upstairs asleep and that thing wandering around. They killed it and cleaned up. Funny thing is i have a cat who normally catches eveything not this time though.

A couple of years ago we had 3 of the Cyprus Tarantulas in the villa. The faithful Dyson came out and I managed to suck them up. I wouldn't empty it for ages as one of them was still alive and feeding on the dead ones. I hate the blighters, along with coachroaches! yuck. Chris

Oh, I couldn't kill a spider. I have a wonderful spider catcher, it's a walking stick handle, which when squeezed, opens up bristles on the end of a stick. catch the spider/beetle in the bristles, take it ouside, squeeze the handle to open the bristles, and whalla, it walks away...hopefully. I must admit to killing flies, cockroaches and ants though. although, after watching ''ant life'', I do feel awful guilty once I've done the dirty deed.
