What a fairy tale! When Wimbledon FC relocated to Milton Keynes in 2002 to to be known as the MK Dons, the majority of the supporters rejected the plan and refused to carry on supporting the club. So led by Kris Stewart they formed their own club ,calling themselves AFC Wimbledon. They held trials on Wimbledon Common and were accepted into the Combined Counties League.

In the 2003/4 season they won the Championship undefeated and went on to claim an all time record of 78 games unbeaten ,which is still the record in senior football. Five promotions later they beat Luton Town in the play offs on penalties to claim there place in the Football League.

The club play at the home of Kingstonian FC in Kingston but their aim is to move back to Wimbledon one day.Their other aim is to catch up and overtake the MK Dons and to be known as the REAL Wimbledon FC. One interesting fact about the club is that the squad of 23 players contains 21 Englishmen and two Welsh, not a foreigner in si

It just goes to prove that"Fan power" can have a huge say in football! They are true Wimbledon fans who didn't want to see their club die !! I am sure there are loads of genuine fans who make the trek up to Milton Keynes to watch the "Dons".I might have a little bet that they get drawn together in the F A Cup !! Wisey,Fash,Downes,Beasant etc ,all crazy !! Great days !
