Ive just caught a 3 foot long Blunt nosed Viper in our garden. We lost our beautiful Husky Rocky to one a month ago and this is the 2nd one Ive since found in the garden. Please take care when gardening and wear protective shoes and gloves. Ive posted other threads on this board about the powder etc that can be bought to prevent snakes - I didnt think I'd need it now Rocky has passed away but I need to re-think that one.

Which area do you live in?

Are you near a ravine by any chance?

You cannot blame the snakes. I lived 15 years in Cyprus and did not see one. It is something local that is going on which disturbed them.

Get yourselves a pet Black Snake. That is the only natural solution.

Just leave them alone, and don't mess with them. They keep the vermin population down. i mean the rodent type.

We have snakes where I live. Chickens are good at scaring them off.

I came across a viper walking the forests below Kantara Castle 3 weeks ago, it didnt shuffle away like the black snakes and I had to get past it very gingerly. I took a few images but unfortunately I cannot seem to attach it. Still it just stared at me and left me alone, boy scary stuff.

I bought the powder from the Yapi (DIY) market in Esentepe village. 9ytl for a Kilo. Message 3 from Tatum 1 yes I live right next to a ravine and I appreciate thats part of the problem. I am a big animal lover and would never deliberately hurt a snake. I just wanted to warn people. Rocky my dog suffered terribly for 10 hours before he passed away and I dread to think what if it had been a toddler. Ive been here 5 years and even though I was aware of the presence of snakes on the Island I had never seen one until this year.

We had a snake in our garden 4 days ago. I was trimming back the white flower plants around the tree and oh dear, out drops a brown snake! Husband was around to warn me as it dropped but I nearly .....myself. Not sure where it has gone, checked everywhere, so hope its gone far away!!!!! Identified as a cat snake. About 14 ins long, two-finger thick. Roll on hibernation time!!!!
