Having successfully used Mark's free UK vpn connection over the last couple of months, primarily just to listen to the radio live F1 commentary, my access has now been denied via Extend. Today, Mark could not even 'take-over' my computer to see if the fault lay this end as that port-hole was also blocked.

Has anyone else in TRNC experienced this problem using Mark's vpn service?

Hi Richard

I need to make it clear that I don't know WHO is to blame... the net was SO poor that it was impossible TO connect

I have had complaints from Nethouse users, too

It would be GREAT to know WHY, though..

I suspect you will find it is a temporary glitch. These kinds of things happen with all net connections. Suspecting Government censorship everytime your connection is slow, or a given site is not reachable or your VPN stops working is your choice but I suggest its not the most likely explaination as a first guess.

Msg 4

Then the second option is that the password code has been hacked? Of course, how dare I suggest the TRNC Government of any wrong doing, as they so squeaky clean and transparent!

I really have no idea what you are talking about Brinsley. Tracking down a specfic cause for a sepcific problem with an internet service, like a VPN service, is a complex and difficult thing to do, that even professionals can find challenging.

If you want to assume that any time you have a problem with a service like VPN, it is probably down to 'government interferance' that is entirely your own choice. The fact remains that it is vastly more statisticaly likely that the reason why your VPN is not working is nothing to do with 'government interferance'. Its not impossible that it is but just very very unlikely compared with the many other reasons that cause the same symptom. Please do excuse me for pointing this simple truth out.

re msg 6 Brinsley

If the password was 'hacked' - I'd know before anyone had managed to change it ;) .. As it ( the VPN) works elsewhere.. :(

re msg 4

There's sure been a LOT of techie glitches :(

Hi Rowlo,

keep going - you'll soon see the bottom of that bottle.. hope you'll find another.. you'll soon post sense ;)

Msg 8

I think I've already pointed out in Msg 6 and admitted that the TRNC Government is beyond reproach!

Brinsley I am trying to point out that thinking the 'government' is behind any and every given internet problem you have, is just nothing to do with how reprocchable the TRNC government may or may not be. Its like you saying 'my VPN is not working, probably those dam martians again' and me saying ' the chance it is martians is pretty remote' and you saying 'well sorry forgive me I didnt know I could not reproach martians, clearly they are beyond reproach'. Its just farcical.

Msg 11

So you know for sure that there isn't a constant Turkish/TRNC Government Satellite always over North Cyprus?!

The chance that there is such a satelite is vastly greater than the chance that, if there is anyone in control of it actualy gives a monkeys about you Brinsley ;)
