I know Mr Denktas is an old man but I cannot bear the idea of North Cyprus without him.

Get well soon Mr. Denktas. May God grace us with your presence for some time more.

According to Cyprus Today Mr Denktas has had a brain haemorrhage. His son Serdar is reported as saying 'all we can do is wait and hope'.

My thoughts are with him. He was a fantastic mentor to my late father. I wish I could work out how to email his family or even send him a small message of good-will.

It is good to hear that he is improving. There is a lot more for him to do on this lovely part of the island!

God Bless

Hi Yorg. Thanks for the link. I will investigate.

However I - perhaps being of a certain generation - believe that Facebook is not for me

There are times when one can be astonished at the will of some to display all of the characteristics of a vulture !

Zoots so typical of you, a despicable man you are for sure, he is a Statesman no doubt, and has been proved honorable and decent in his actions, however you can disagree but please allow him some dignity unlike the many people killled by the thuggish murderers that you condone such as Papadoupoulus and his cronies.

Puggers Msg 15,

Bluster instead of evidence to back up your ludicrous claims would suggest I'm right.

Can I just ask everyone to simply ignore any troll messages. I think Mr. Denktas deserves a little more than a troll demanding proof of his credentials.

Oh and just incase any troll gets excited about the prospect of another message on this matter from me, do please enjoy the ensuing disappointment.

If you knew Denktas then Zoots you can use the words expressed by Pugwash. No doubt you have never met the man - what a great pity.

I urge the moderators to stop the disrespect to this man, zoots is as usual trying to disrespect anything from the North of the Island, or indeed Turkish Cypriot. He should be ashamed of himself.

I concur - he is known to our family - everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I would posit, this is not the juncture at which to post aggressive or negative ones...........the man is very poorly for heavens sake!

Pugwash,

Stop being hysterical and running to the mods to stifle fair comment. This is supposed to be a democracy. I wished the man well, for pity's sake. If you choose to issue some gushing tribute to the guy then you can expect to be challenged.

Some people...

You are a total git zoots, we all know who you are, just leave it alone for a bit I stand by my comments concerning the man, and it is my opinion and this is not a thread to question what YOU may or may not think about the man, you should concern yourself with Mugabe and other truly evil men but then again I suppose your pants are not thick enough

Pugwash: "...this is not a thread to question what YOU may or may not think about the man..."

So you can say what you like about him but I can't? Doesn't wash, Pugwash.

I do think your analogy with Mugabe was clever, though. A ludicrous, utterly discredited man with an inflated ego who led his country to ruin. And Mugabe's even worse.

So if Rauf Raif Denktaş was a member of this forum would you cease your personal attacks on him?

We doubt it as for almost a decade you have done nothing but.

Regret to say that when we saw him last week he looked very frail indeed. Of course we wish him well, but he is not a strong man.

I have never spoken with Mr Denktas although I have been in his presence on a few occasions.

He is obviously a very astute politician and has obviously done a great deal for all in Northern Cyprus.

I wish him a speedy recovery and a return to his normal life
